Junk & Java is THE major hangout location on the CT/RI border. There are a few other coffeehouses, but none compare in terms of ambiance and such a fun staff of Baristas.
The drinks and the pastries are all excellent, especially the bagels, but to me, where this place has been my base of operations whilst job searching the past few months, the gastronomic aspect is secondary to the friendly environment. And when you see so many students and professionals working while drinking their coffee, you’ll see why it is so popular; it’s well laid out and comfortable.
Also, they have an adorable gift shop (the “Junk” part of the name).
From the coffee, to the baked goods (I especially enjoy the whoopie pies) to the Baristas, Junk & Java is a unique experience that has no equal in our area and only a few comparisons in the many places I have lived in the United States. It is a must visit when you are in South County, RI.

The coffee is delicious! We also had a sprinkle donut that was out of this world- it’s got whipped cream instead of the traditional buttercream. It’s a bit chaotic (it’s busy and that’s great it means they are good!!) but they are efficient. Definitely a place worth frequenting if you’re a local and a place to stop by when you’re in town visiting!

Junk & Java is a gem of a cafe that exceeds expectations. The atmosphere is cozy and eclectic, with a fun and lively vibe. The menu offers a range of creative coffee drinks and delicious baked goods, with some standout items that left a lasting impression. The service was friendly and attentive, with knowledgeable staff happy to make recommendations. The only drawback was the limited seating, which could make it difficult to find a spot during peak hours. Overall, Junk & Java is a must-visit for coffee enthusiasts and foodies.

Stop in this past weekend after spending a cool day volunteering outside near Watch Hill. We were looking for something warm and the coffee shop caught our eyes. The shop was fairly busy, but we were able to quickly place and receive our orders. The interior was inviting and clean with plenty of seating and tables to hangout while enjoying your beverage of choice. Definitely, worth stopping in when in the area.

Best coffee shop in the world!!!! this is true and I’ve been looking. Options galore and the menu is posted several different places so, even if you are a first timer, there is no guessing about what is what and what they have. So many flavor options for added syrups and the coffee is very good! Very unique and welcoming environment. Staff are knowledgeable about their products and made suggestions and gave us time to think through what we wanted. The gluten free fat bomb was delicious, they have kombucha on tap, and bakes goods. I wish I lived closer because I would come back again and again.

What a happy random find. We were looking for an independent coffee shop while traveling through the area. Oh happy day; we found Junk and Java. Probably the best coffee of our New England trip. Not only was the coffee great, but the red pepper bagel was phenomenal. I sure hope it is on our trip back!!
