Cafe Madeleine is a French restaurant & cafe with two locations in San Diego, CA inspired by the sidewalk street cafes in France. From the sidewalk chairs to the mural of Toulouse-Lautrec-like decorative painting on the Juniper Street side of the building done by Alexandra Pastorino, a French artist now living in Los Angeles. The art nouveau style of the cafe, outside tables and crimson umbrellas lining the sidewalk, complete an ambiance fit for Paris, France. At Cafe Madeleine, we specialize in the best sweet and savory crepes & paninis in all of San Diego. Certified Illy Artisti del Gusto Café that specializes in espresso drinks, crêpes and paninis.

I like how easy it is to order and eat here. Order at the counter then get seated and leave when you’re done with your meal. The place has character, it’s colorful and cute and in an interesting micro-hood next to other businesses. I also appreciate how friendly and engaged the staff are, service is overall very good and the vibes are cheerful and relaxed. The patio is shaded so I prefer this location to the South Park location for dining with dogs.

Very good, especially the food. I had a steak and fires that was cooked to perfection. The fries were the closet I could get to Belgium fries; I know this sound silly but in my opinion most fries are okay. The meat/ steak was cooked to perfection with its brandy sauce. Only two things that I didn’t like, the inside was supposed to have air conditioning, but it was hotter and more humid than outside. Keep in mind we were experiencing a hotter than normal day. The other is that I sat outside and didn’t know I had to order at the bar. I was never given the indication until I asked. I wish I was told when I walked in or before sitting outside for some time.

Love this place for a sit-down leisurely breakfast, lunch, snack or coffee. Or a wonderful meet up with a friend during non-peak hours. Parking can be a bit daunting in this urban location, so I make a point to either schedule a visit during non-peak hours, or, since I drive by it almost every day, I look for opportunities when I see a space in the parking lot for a spontaneous visit. Lovely shaded outdoor seating as well as sunny seating on the other side. Indoors has ceiling fans and great cross breezes and a lot of tables as well as counter seating. The pastries and baked goods are second to none. If you appreciate good bread, this is definitely worth a visit! The Madeleine Benedict is amazing if you like egg Benedicts. Very warm, friendly atmosphere with chill quiet vibe. ❤️❤️❤️

I went their to work and the lighting was not really good, it was too dark and also too hot to sit for hours. Their coffee was ok, not really good. And it seemed like it would be a good place to have brunch with friends but not to work.
Their restroom is outside and you can ask the staff about it.
Their madeleine was good though and they do have free wifi.
Also I like their other branch (south park) better 🙂

This place is a gem . Had breakfast here a few days in a row with my daughter and we both loved it.
It’s got an authentic vibe of care and charm. The Madeline omelette was perfection and the fresh squeezed OJ was robust.
Highly recommended checking this place out if you’re looking for a French style breakfast or pastries. I’m sure the lunch is just as good, but haven’t tried yet.

I love working on my computer here for an hour or two while I have breakfast or lunch and a nice drink! I really enjoy that they have options aside from coffee like food, tea, and Italian sodas.
The tables are always clean and the service is always friendly. The atmosphere is so cute and cozy as well!

Okay this place is cute, family friendly, and lovely customer service. Parking is a hassle though. The food on the other hand was okay. Not like mind blowing it was alight. We got the pear crepes tasted basic not like great, got other desserts but they were okay, my cappuccino was okay too. Overall the food was just alright. I have been to other places and the food was better.
