Social Profile:

The story of Jean Pierre started in France, 1936. Jean Pierre grew up in a beautiful small village right outside of Paris! It was there that he was taught the wonders of baking! In 1969, Jean Pierre moved to the United States and brought his steam oven system to make fresh artisan baguettes. The rest is history!!! Now located in Durango CO on Main Avenue, the bakery is now of the most popular bakeries in the country! We now have breakfast, lunch, coffee, wine, and much much more!

Quaint, long-running locale for traditional French breads, pastries & meals amid antique decor.

There is no need to travel to France since you can go to Jean Pierre Bakery. The decor is fantastic. Oil paintings styled from the 1800’s. Wood floors all roughed up. Big huge comfortable chairs. Taxidermy animals on the wall along with chandeliers hanging from the rough ceiling beams.
Get a chocolate croissant and enjoy.

We visited from Sacramento and stopped by twice for pastries and lunch before our Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge train ride. Staff, especially Jackie, were friendly and helpful—she remembered us on our second visit, and she described the pastry options well. The pastries were excellent with a wide variety and beautiful presentation. Our lunches were good but not as good as the pastries. The quiche was tasty but the texture was different than what we are used to in that there was more meat and cheese than custard. The croissant sandwiches were also good, but could have used a few more slices of ham. The salad and fruit options that came with lunch were fresh with ample servings. The take out containers were sturdy and a bag with handles was provided to carry the three lunches on board the train. We enjoyed a light breakfast in the bright, pleasant bakery just a short walk from the depot, with live piano music and easy conversation despite the busy atmosphere. If we lived nearby, this would be a frequent stop.

We were very excited to have breakfast here as crepes are one of my favorite things to have for breakfast.
The atmosphere is simply delightful with the feel of actually being in Europe.
There are lovely breads and colorful desserts as you walk in the door to the left, some of them looking too delectable to actually eat.

We arrived early so that we could sit at a table by the window. It was fun to people watch while we enjoyed our meal.

Our food was delicious but we both agreed it was very overpriced. It cost us nearly $70 for two meals. I ordered the berry crepes and my daughter got the crab and avocado crepes. She raved about the flavor of the Hollandaise sauce, however, she said the crepe was mostly full of onions which greatly overwhelmed the bits of crab and avocado.

It was a fun experience but we probably will not go there to eat again, however, we will pick up their delectable baked goods from time to time.

The kind man who was our server kept up with our water refills and was quite attentive!

The restaurant was spotlessly clean as were the restrooms.

We were blessed to arrive at a time when a very sweet lady was playing the piano. The music was simply lovely, enhancing the already relaxed atmosphere with her beautiful notes.

Good service and fun atmosphere. There was a pianist playing ragtime when we visited. The interior is very old west aesthetic and very pleasant overall. We dined in for breakfast and I must say I was pretty disappointed with the quality and amount of food for the price. We got two crepes, assorted fruit, two eggs and 3 Jimmy Dean sausages. That cost about $35. The crepes were a bit overcooked. In summary, I think this is a great bakery but the restaurant side is not worth the money. Highly recommend to stop in for a pastry or fresh bread but I can’t say the same for the breakfast dining experience. Service was wonderful though!

The atmosphere at Jean-Pierre Bakery & Wine Bar is so engaging. Take a look at the eclectic surroundings. There were other spaces I didn’t photograph, but I think you can get the idea. The spinach quiche was cheesy and flavorful. My salad was crisp. You can see how beautifully plated the fruit was on my friend’s plate. The french fries had the extra flavor of the skins and pepper – amazingly delicious. Another friend had the chicken salad on a croissant which she reported to be really good. Jean-Pierre’s has a fine bakery and the bread looked fabulous. I haven’t tried their bread and as you may know if you follow my reviews, I am a bread snob and bakery aficionado. This restaurant is not open on Mondays.

Stopped by for a quick snack and drink. We ordered crepes and coffee/teas all around. Everything was fresh and delicious. We also ordered pastries and a loaf of bread, which stayed fresh for days.

The indoor bar is beautiful, as well as, the whole interior. I can see why it’s such a popular place! Wished I would have gotten more photos.

On our roadtrip thru the Southwest we stayed in Durango and stopped at this amazing establishment. There’s so much variety in sweet treats you want to take it all home with you. Meeting the owner was tres magnifique too as he spoke French so we conversed for awhile. Stop in you won’t be disappointed.

Great breakfast spot downtown. It was great with two young kids. Pricey but very worth the experience. We ordered the eggs Benedict, omelette, fruit crepes, and stuffed croissant. Everything was expertly cooked and very delicious. The $11 glass of orange juice called me poor, but was delicious to the last drop. We grabbed some pastries to go and they were equally delicious. The staff is very jovial and are the friendliest people we’ve met in Durango. The kids enjoyed their food, the live piano, and the pastries. We’ll be coming back for breakfast.

Traditional french bakery with antique and rustic ambiance serving amazing pastries and breads with bottomless mimosas and other cocktails. Visited here for brunch and had a really great experience, home made jams were the highlight. They do have good breakfast and lunch options to choose from.
