Waited almost 10 min just to be seated with very low customers in the restaurant, then another almost 40 min to get my good, ordered egg and potato with bacon, the only thing hot in that plate was the beans, boiling hot as if they were put into a microwave, tortillas, eggs, potato and bacon were literally cold already. Ridiculous. Lady in front asked me if everything was good, I said no and didn’t even bother asking what was wrong with the food or anything. Not worth it.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant of all the Mexican restaurants we visited in Port Arthur. I have enjoyed every visit. Food is always delicious and the servers, the hosts, and cashiers are friendly and efficient. The dining room is nice with their colorfully carved furnitures. They serve breakfast daily from 8-11 AM, but they also serve lunch during these hours. They get really busy at lunch, but come and join the fun! Parking is free and available around the restaurant, and I think there’s an overflow parking area in the adjacent lot. Restrooms are clean. You can order takeout. They accept credit cards, of course. They have longer dining hours on weekends, but are closed Sundays.

Food breakfast was good but they need to improve their tortillas… both flour and corn tortillas were bad.. . Eggs with chorizo wasn’t the best but it was good enough I would go back but their tortillas , not fresh made and were kind of raw and cold.

We normally eat at El Viejo Tony nearby. Needed lunch before 11am so we decided to try Carmela’s.

After being seated it took about 15 minutes to be served drinks. Once our food came out both of our meals were wrong. We ate it anyways – the rice is very bland, not as good as other restaurants.

Honestly we won’t be back. I 10/10 recommend El Viejo Tony instead.

Beautiful restaurant. Food was really good. We had to wait a little bit for drinks, and Neil was “needing” a coffee refill. Our server was super nice and doing her best.

I had to ask for chips and salsa after the food came out. So by the time i got to the food it was cold. Food was bland. Nobody pays attention. I wondered why there were so few cars in the parking lot, now I know. Never again. I regret spending my money here.

We are enjoying the new location! Carmelas has become are biweekly restaurant choice. The service is always wonderful. The food is reasonably priced for the portions you get.

Why are y’all so stingy with the salsa on to-go orders? You get endless amounts when dinning in, but for to-go orders you get a thimble sized cup and if you ask for more they try and charge you.

We were in town to do some fishing and decided to check this place out for some breakfast and I’m so glad we did. The menudo was great and the tacos were full of meat. Great service!
