Finally made it in! They have a cute Mule menu, I didn’t try a margarita, maybe next time. We didn’t eat here but the menu looks good. They have a few vegetarian options cauliflower tacos, goat cheese salad and a few apps. The place is SMALL. Maybe 10 seats at the bar and a few tables. The bartender/ server/ maybe she helps cook too was so kind and welcoming and friendly. Very cool decor. Happy we stopped by and will for sure be back

First time in and had a pleasant experience. The lady behind the bar was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and polite.

They have a wide variety of mixed drinks with fresh ingredients, which is a rare sight. They have a good selection of drinks in cans and bottles as well. I just went for a beer but my friend got a blackberry mule (no picture) that was pretty tasty.

We ordered some food, tri tip fries and a cheesesteak dog. Both food items were good but I think the hotdog was a better deal, no pictures either, but the hotdog is loaded!

It’s pretty quaint inside. There’s a small patio off to the side. Pretty clean inside too.

Overall would I’d go back.

A must stop if traveling on 99fwy!! Found this during a gas stop traveling back to LA. Adding it to our route when we travel north again. Had the pineapple Serrano margaritas, duck carnitas, and a deliciously cooked burger. Patio was closed but inside is very inviting and equipped with large screen TV’s for a comfortable game night. Located in a lively little alley with several other visually appealing exteriors. Spent $75 with food, drinks and tip – great delicious deal.

We got the peppered pork tacos and goose carnitas tacos. They were very tasty. The drinks were : coronado beer wheat ale and the wife had a blood orange jalapeño margarita. The margarita was good. My beer came in a can and I got a chilled glass.

Decided to try this place out for lunch and overall the food was good and freshly made. We had the homeboy burger, and cheesesteak. As a preference for the cheesesteak I wished the ratio of onion and peppers are 50/50 as well as the meat be thinner.

We had a party of 8 and none of us had been there before. It seems to be more of a bar with some interesting food choices. Most of us had fish and chips which was very good. One had a James cheeseburger which tasted good and one had fish tacos with a tomatillo sauce. The staff was very nice and attentive to our needs.

We started off with the mushrooms, which were really good. The crust on the mushrooms was nice and crispy, and the dipping sauce was perfect. I had the pecan crested halibut tacos, and my husband had a Hudson Burger. I thought the flavor on the Hallett. Tacos was delicious in complimented by the till the wine sauce. I husband said his burger was good and the Patty was super thick, scary reboth go back. We also took a raspberry cake in a cup togo. Oh my! Chef’s kiss!

I found this little gem while working in Bakersfield. I am so happy I did. I have dinner there every time I am in town when they are open. The owner and cook always remember me by sight and both are always genuine, happy and friendly. The food and drinks are always excellent, the atmosphere is very pleasant and welcoming. Truly a hidden gem in Bakersfield worth checking out.

I invited family and friends to meet me here. I was so surprised to find out that before my arrival, my guests had already been warned not to speak loudly or to be on their phone in this establishment. Although the food has always been above average, I don’t think we will return to this place that needs to be renamed as “The Library”!

This is both exactly what I had hoped for and better than I had expected. It’s a small gastropub in an alley in downtown Bakersfield, and my experience with those is that some are incredible and the others are so-so. This one falls into the incredible category; good, solid food and an interesting beer selection.

If your idea of 5-star cuisine involves fine dining, this is not that — but for a gastropub, it’s definitely worth the trip. Their menu includes options ranging from tri-tip to lamb, chicken or duck, seared tuna, etc. They have small bites or salads as well as snacks. And if you’re looking for fusion tacos, they have those too.

Don’t expect a large place with a lot of staff – this is a small family business with 2 people. But if you want something a little different as you drive up the 99, consider a little side trip into the heart of downtown Bakersfield to this alley charmer.
