the atmosphere was amazing, we had the entire restaurant to ourselves on accident lol (group of 15). Our families are from Liberia, Cameron and Nigeria so the feeling of home was in the building. The food was very good, hot, seasoned to perfection and on time. the drinks did not disappoint at all. majority had mocktails and younger adults had alcoholic. Hands down we will be back. Ding was a GREAT host/server and she added to the experiencein a very positive way. The photographer was not the best experience, she should have been open to options that we wanted if the pictures didn’t have any discounts after buying 20, but we bought pictures anyway. We will not purchase/take pictures with her again.

Very average to below average experience. Would not return.

-Food was not good and was not hot upon arrival.
-Drinks were just okay and were made incorrectly (this was corrected).
-Received food before drinks, even though drinks were ordered first. We had to remind the server about our drinks.
-Had to ask a different server for plates after the food arrived.
+Enjoyed the live music performance.
-The DJ was too loud to hear people at our table.

What we ordered:
Cauliflower – Spinach Dip- Beef Suja
Espresso Martini – Strawberry Lemon Drop – Nubian Margarita – Beehive Bellini

UPDATE: We had a reservation. We mentioned it was someone’s birthday celebration when the reservation was made and also mentioned it to the server when we were seated. Their birthday was not acknowledged. We’d ordered shots that never arrived and had plans to order entrees after sharing starters, but decided against it.

I really enjoyed my dinner at Cafe Nubia. Keyerra was very sweet and attentive with our order. We had the Nubia Wings, Beef Suya, and the Blackened Salmon. Everything came out at a reasonable pace and was absolutely delicious. Also the band was absolutely amazing. They had a great setlist and singer was phenomenal. I can’t wait to come back

Really wanted to love Café Nubia, went with mom for iftar/dinner but overall it was an underwhelming experience.

We ordered the lamb sliders and the All Meat Platter ($34). The gyro meat inside the sliders was actually good, but the buns were cold on the outside, which threw it off. The meat platter was disappointing for the price — two kebab sticks, one chicken thigh (looked flavorful but was bland under the skin), zucchini mix, and Greek potatoes. It also seemed like the third advertised meat (lamb/beef) was missing. For $34, I expected more variety and better execution. For the 2 things only, the total cost was $66.

What made the experience more frustrating was the service and overall operation. The vibe of the place is clearly designed for Instagram — very aesthetic the moment you walk in — but the substance didn’t match the presentation.

Our server was kind, but unfortunately didn’t seem familiar with the menu. Since Café Nubia describes itself as African and Mediterranean fusion, I asked whether any of the meat was halal. The server didn’t know what halal meant and had to get the chef. The response we received was essentially that sometimes they get halal meat and sometimes they don’t, and if we strictly eat halal to stick to lamb chops or sliders. That kind of inconsistency is important information that staff should confidently know and communicate.

There were also several menu availability issues. We were told after ordering that sliders don’t come with sides (despite initially being asked which sides we wanted). When ordering a side for the platter, I asked for asparagus and was told the chef had to check if they even had it, mentioning they were still recovering from a Valentine’s rush — this was a week after 2/14. Before ordering, we were also informed they were out of ribeye, salmon, and another entrée.

The people were nice, and I understand working in a restaurant is demanding. But knowing your menu, understanding key dietary terms, and having consistency in what you offer feels like basic training — especially for a place positioning itself as a fusion concept.

The aesthetic is there. The food and operational details need more attention.

I must have come on the wrong night. This was my first time visiting Cafe Nubia. Thought I’d bring some out-of-towners to experience a taste of Dallas to celebrate their visit. We all were so disappointed. We ordered a variety of food from the wings, jerked salmon, dip, lamb sliders… the only thing from that list that was good was the wings and dip. Everything came out overcooked and dry.

The drinks and the service were just “ok”. What really was the final straw was the DJ. The music was just all over the place. It went from rnb to straight ratchet vibes in a matter of minutes. Lastly the valet in a strip mall parking lot is $20, which is insane! Needless to say… I won’t be back.

Very delicious food. I initially ordered the Cajun pasta which was really spicy. The waiter and kitchen were so nice to make me another dish, which I appreciated. I enjoyed our drinks also. They had a live band play r&b music and it was a good time. The only thing I didn’t like was the alcohol service fee. Not sure why that is necessary on a bill but other than that, a good time!

My daughter took me out for my birthday dinner and always has a way of finding a new and unique place which is right up my ally.
The app was Beef Sambusa. I had the meat sampler and she had the tilapia in a spicy tomato sauce. All cooked in a Sudanese spices and style. You can see that they plate the food nicely as well. Everything was very delicious.

Highly recommend ‼️

Wow, where do I start, the furniture and decor were so beautiful, and put together nicely, and the staff, they were all smiles and so attentive! There was a band playing when I got there… they did their thang! This establishment is in a small strip mall so parking is limited, but, do what you have to do and support this place lol ✌
