Jan Jao Kha is a refined Thai restaurant in New York inspired by royal Siamese cuisine. We revive rare, heritage recipes once reserved for the royal court, crafted with precision and intention. Each dish reflects Thailand’s culinary history. Elegant, balanced, and deeply cultural. This is not everyday Thai food. This is tradition, restored.

Without a doubt, it was the best Thai food we’ve ever had. The best Pad Thai ever.
Every dish was delicious, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. The atmosphere is stunning and cozy, with thoughtful attention to every detail—you really feel special there.
The service was excellent as well: attentive, warm, and efficient.
A restaurant that’s now on our favorites list, and one we wholeheartedly recommend!
I got the lemongrass drink, taro puffs, and the duck shaped dumplings as appetizer. For my entree, I ordered the pad see ew with tofu. The noodles were perfectly chewy!
We ended with the khao tom mud and gnocchi in coconut milk for desert which were both incredibly tasty and chewy.
Can’t wait to come here again!
From the moment the dishes hit the table, you could tell this wasn’t your typical Thai dinner. The attention to detail, the plating, the balance of flavors — everything felt thoughtful and intentional.
We started with Kanom Jeeb Nok, delicate dumplings shaped like little birds, sitting on crushed ice and surrounded by fresh cilantro and edible flowers. They were almost too beautiful to eat. Almost. Light, tender, and incredibly flavorful, they set the tone immediately.
The Basil Fried Rice with Grilled Beef was next level. Perfectly charred beef layered over fragrant rice, topped with a crispy edged sunny side egg with a deep golden yolk that broke perfectly into the rice. Fresh cucumber slices and lime on the side cut through the richness. Every bite had texture — crispy, tender, savory, bright. It was comfort food elevated.
The Duck Curry was outstanding. Rich, silky coconut curry with tender duck, Thai eggplant, and fresh basil, finished with thin red pepper strips and an edible flower that made the dish feel almost artistic. The depth of flavor was serious — layered heat, sweetness, and that slow lingering spice that builds without overpowering.
Even something like the Mango Salad with Crispy Fish had precision. Bright, fresh, and balanced, with the fish perfectly crisp and served thoughtfully.
What really stood out was how polished everything felt. Not just great flavors — presentation, plating, execution. Every dish felt intentional. Nothing sloppy. Nothing rushed.
In a city like New York where you can eat anywhere, this meal genuinely surprised me.
If you appreciate detail, balance, and elevated Thai cuisine that still feels soulful, this place delivers.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, maybe even ever!
Also, the place is GORGEOUS and quaint. Perfect for a date or business meal.
On top of that, the service is outstanding. The staff are attentive and genuinely welcoming, which has made this place my go-to spot. I’m already on my fifth visit, and I’ll definitely be back again and again.
We order, spicy mango salad with crispy fish, Tom Yum Boran with shrimps and Basil fried rice with grilled beef.
They are delicious and the spicy as the level we love. I also asked for PrikNamPla sauce on the side. Jasmine rice comes with entree and free refill, that’s the bonus!
The restaurant is pretty warm and cozy, the paint on the wall remind me Thailand.
The servers,, Ta and Big, are very friendly and helpful to order.
We will come back again when we visit NYC next time.
