A few days ago, I drove to central Texas from out of state for a funeral. As chance would have it, it was also my birthday. It was late and I was seriously craving some brisket, but many places were already closed and we were staying out by Canyon Lake and that limited my options. I found Legit-Ass Meats via a Google search and decided to roll the dice, and I’m beyond happy that I did.
The meats were indeed legit-ass.
That may sound like I’m joking around, but I swear I’m not. This place is the real deal. Ryan’s a great dude, and he knows how to cook a brisket.
He was sold out of some things, so I didn’t get to try the sausage links, but the brisket was absolutely otherworldly good. It was moist, tender, and loaded with flavor. I’d go back again in a heartbeat.
Just go. You won’t regret it.

Came here on a whim and they have some of the best flavored BBQ! Meat is tender and flavor is all the way to the bone. Their Smoked Loaded Tater tots had a kick and the Waygu beef with it just hit different. I had to get out my truck and compliment the chef before I left it was so good!

The name didn’t disappoint, and it’s 100 percent accurate. The plates are absolutely loaded with meat and flavor. I’ve had BBQ all across the country, big reason why I stay in Texas. This place did not disappoint and is some of the best I’ve had. Definitely get some brisket if you decide to stop by

I eat a lot of BBQ all across the country. It’s a big reason I live in Texas. When I say this place is legit, I mean it with all of my heart. The food is just phenomenal. The meat has some of the best flavor I’ve tasted. The sandwich was massive and he didn’t skimp on portion size! My only regret about coming here was that I didn’t do it sooner and that I wasn’t hungrier. Give him a shot, you won’t regret it!

We randomly found this place on google when driving back from Austin. i Got a 2 meat plate with Brisket and Pulled Pork and it came with potato salad. My wife got sausage. First of all these plates were loaded with meat (in my picture i’d already eaten a huge portion of brisket) . Also, it’s by far the best Brisket i’ve eaten in Texas this year. Outstanding stuff. That Potato salad was also pretty on point. Seemed like a pretty cool place to be when its busier because the bar its in front of is a designated historical location. Awesome awesome place

The brisket sandwich is simply just awesome here. I mean look at that fatty marble (i asked for marble brisket), it was a real big sandwich that was really delicious & the crusty part on the back had soooo much flavor I really enjoyed it. The young man that took my order was real cool that courtesy extra piece of brisket was delicious & much appreciated. I can’t wait to come back & have it again along with something else nxt time around.

Don’t let the look of this place deter you from coming here. The bbq is LEGIT (pun intended). 5 stars. Just as good as Black’s up the road (and cheaper).
I was a little surprised that the owner (a nice guy named Ryan) didn’t have any plastic knives, just forks, but then he handed me the brisket, and it was like butter. Fork cut right through it.
$20 for a 3-meat plate. Worth taking a detour for next time you drive through the San Marcos area!

This place is great. Portions are huge and it’s so close to the outlet mall. I’d rather eat legit barbecue than the fast food options around. They are in the back or a great local bar and there is a nice outdoor seating area. Ryan is friendly and he is passionate about his brisket.

I had the barbecue brisket sandwich and my friend had the pulled pork sandwich. Both were delicious and on point with great portions. We sampled the burnt ends and it was incredible!! We got a chance to meet the owner who was very attentive and friendly and got everything perfect! Thank you, we’ll be back again!!!
