The server was very sweet even though it was really busy. We loved the spicy cheese curds and the jumbo regular crust pizza was a good size for 2 people (with lots leftover). The atmosphere was straight forward and seemed family friendly but there was no changing table in the bathroom.

Frankie’s pizza to me will always be the best place to get a classic midwest bar pie style pizza. They have many classic styles to try in a unique setting which I hope never changes. I recommend getting a pie with sauerkraut or trying their taco style with mild sauce base and doritio topping.

Frankie’s pizza was a treat indeed! What a great selection of specialty pizzas. We tried a big selection. We enjoyed the taco pie, the special, a Hawaiian, the garlic chicken plus a stuffed crust cheese pizza. They were all fabulous! The garlic chicken is very rich, though, so be aware of that. The taco pie was yummy any not spicy – it was “white folks” taco style. The special was very good; excellent sausage and canned mushrooms . Omg – the pizza fries are KILLER! They have a great selection of beverages (Coke & Pepsi products!) including 1919 root beer. Our waitress was so sweet and full of energy despite the restaurant being absolutely slammed. The kitchen turned out our food despite having a full house. (We were a party of 9 and there was another party that size plus many other smaller tables.) We found this place to be charming and fun, but make no mistake it’s a “dive” and this is said with great fondness. We would definitely visit again. Prices were $10 & up for a small (12-inch pie). The specialty pies are about $18 for a large (14-inch pie).

The pizza is the best around!! We drive all the way from Hayward! We also bought a couple of their half baked pizzas to take home and put in the freezer to bake at home later. We LOVE the pizza and cheese curds. We’ll keep coming back!!

If you get this pizza to go- there’s a few options that aren’t too bad, but expensive, and will also leave you with a bellyache. Being a staple in the city for so many years, I think people eat here for nostalgic reasons, not for the dining experience. Dining in is atrocious-how about update your restaurant!? It’s dirty, smelly, and way too dim to be acceptable. The price per pizzas should pay for decent staff and a decent building. I’d rather eat a frozen pizza from any grocer store.

Do you like great pizza made on homemade crust? Frankie’s has got you covered. What a down home vibe! We got a completely delicious stuffed crust, some cheesy bread and a Bcb. Reasonably priced everything ! Had a delicious local beer. Possibly the best pizza in Ashland. They have a separate carry out window for presumably busy summer season.

EDIT: Placed a phone to go order on 16-2-24, approximate one hour to pick up our order. Ordered the Stingin Honey Garlic and Garlic Parmeson bone in wings. Also ordered a large Taco pizza and a 5Meat pizza. Food smelled so good was temping to eat on the drive back. Needless to say it was another great experience coming here, the food was all very delicious, staff was all very kind and had us on our way.
We have a cabin in bayfield and had passed by hear countless time wanting to try. Soo glad we did! We purchased several pizzas to go, everyone loved the food. Staff was very kind and courteous, this all despite them being extremely busy. We will definitely be returning, highly recommend!

Friendly service in an old school pizza house, looks like they’ve been here for awhile. The Pizza was a solid thin (not cracker crust thin) crust with good quality toppings and a nice sauce. Just wish that the Italian sausage would have had a little more fennel in it and it would have been perfect.

Picked up a couple of pizzas to go to eat at our hotel. So delicious! Toppings and cheese were delicious and I appreciated the availability of cauliflower crust (which was crispy and buttery at the edges…so tasty!).

I really enjoyed this pizza, although it was different. It reminded me of a kids pizza, very friendly, easy to please, but missing any adult pizza flavors. The crust is fluffy and thin. It kind of reminds me of white bread, with the slightest texture on the outside. The cheese is good quality. The sauce is tomatoey and slightly sweet. The sausage tastes more like a pork meatball, little or no herbs.
