What a beautiful “Ichigo Ichie” moment! Pre-concert dining at the sushi bar, the decor is understated Japanese, service from the greeter, to the water server, to the waiting staff, to the Obaasan busying herself hoping to lend a hand on those learning how to use I had a delightful miso soup / edamame to start, followed by sumptuously fresh sashimi sampler and ama ebi finished off with mochi and a slice of complimentary yubari. Ridiculously good value too…this will be a core memory I keep returning too as the menu is extensive enough for me to spend hours upon hours of my future here.

Really enjoyed my meal and experience here at Murata. haven’t had this good of sushi since Tokyo earlier this year. Atmosphere and serving reminded me of those kind moments in Japan as well.

Traditional Japanese with the freshest ingredients. Osaka sushi with the mackerel was outstanding. Chawanmushi is a favorite of my husband, as delicious as his mother made. Sushi, tempura, tofu were all excellent.

Some of the best sushi I’ve had in the US! I lived in Japan for 15 years and know my way around sushi which is one of my favorite meals. The food here is super authentic and they have quite a broad offering outside of sushi. We tried the tempura this time and it was great. My top pick for sushi in PDX.

I had the ribeye, and I was really impressed. It was a good cut, cooked to a nice medium rare, and had great flavor and char. The miso soup also got the spot. Definitely will go back and try other options! The staff was friendly and the service was quick.

Authentic Japanese sushi
Love the Japanese interior design and atmosphere here!
The bluefin tuna-mid fat was melted easily in your mouth. The sushi was fresh and delicious!
The cherry bloom tree on the top of the restaurant was blooming. It made me feel like I was in Japan.

The service was a bit slow. I sat in the chair for more than 30 minutes before someone came to speak to me and arrange my seating at the bar. I ordered from the dinner menu, and while it was good, the fish was much better than the beef. We also ordered some sushi—the portions were small, but the fish was fresh.
Crowed environment, a little pricey for the food.

We had lunch for two, both taking a $28 combo of a succulent, large steak, three sushi, three pieces of a roll and miso soup. We loved it! Parking at nearby garage is validated. Excellent value. What could be better? Service was a bit scattered, and servers appeared overwhelmed. Side salad featured a tasteless tomato and similarly tasteless iceberg lettuce.

We had a small group and reserved tatami room. We all had a great experience. The service was great. Everyone we interacted with was awesome. The food was great! We had a few in our group that “didn’t like raw fish” not really knowing. At the end of the evening they absolutely love sushi. We tried a lot of different things and it was a ton of fun.

THE totally authentic Japanese dishes, hands down! Sushi is REALLY good and they taste very authentic, I was shocked because I never even imagined I could eat this good Japanese dishes (especially sushi) anywhere outside of Japan.
If you want to know what the real Japanese cuisine is, this is the place to show you.

There are 3 Japanese style tatami dining rooms and they’re suitable for a small business meeting or family/friends gathering.

Reservations are by phone only and they’re busy…so be patient. Reservation is strongly recommended.
