Pompano Joe’s opened its doors in 1995 and quickly became known for their unique Caribbean style of seafood. Since then, it has become a destination restaurant for tourists and a favorite among the locals.
The Caribbean flair shines through from our famous Reggae Rolls and Garlic Crusted Grouper to the brightly covered window frames that line the walls of our open-air restaurant.
When visiting Destin, South Walton or Panama City Beach, we hope you stop in and enjoy our great food, refreshing drinks and the best view on the Gulf Coast.
Vibrant eatery offering Caribbean-style seafood & tropical cocktails in laid-back space.

Definitely one of our favorite seafood places around Destin. They have a long wall of window seats so you can enjoy the incredible view. The service was spot on the whole time, with menu suggestions, refills, and attentiveness. We ordered hush puppies and they came out quick and included strawberry mint butter. The shrimp po-boy and coconut shrimp were excellent. The strawberry shortcake cheesecake looked amazing but we were too full, so we will have to come back. After lunch we enjoyed a nice post-meal walk on the beach and found some cool shells.

Very special place to dine if you’re looking for a beachfront. Very brightly decorated with a nautical theme.
The food was delicious, and prices are about standard for the area.
So glad that we stopped to eat here.

Great place right on the beach. Great food. Had the grilled Grouper with a side of lump crab. Twice baked potato was really good. Beans and rice were tasty. Highly recommend. Have to have the Grouper grilled or blackened as it is a good clean tasting fish. Drinks were good and at a fair price.

For starters, you can’t beat the view. The length of the building runs parallel with the beach. A you approach from the parking lot, you’re greeted with an outdoor bar. We ordered two margaritas while we waited fort our seats, about a 20 minute wait on a Tuesday at 4:30. We just missed happy hour, this two margaritas were $27 in a 12 ounce cap. A 32 ounce margarita “bucket” is only $23. The menu is very large. The fried shrimp are on the large size and vertical tasty. We also ordered there coconut shrimp dinner, same sized shrimp but there was just a slight hint of coconut. Overall the food was above average. Our server was real good and attentive. The margaritas were average for flavor and poor pours. There’s a narrow catwalk outside of the main dining room and about 10 picnic tables on the beach. The main dining room is huge. I’d definitely return for food and beer.

A classic. Great food, right on the beach. Service is very friendly and relatively quick. It is PRICEY (~$40 for most main entrees) but that’s to be expected given the location and crowd levels.
We’ve eaten here probably a couple dozen times to date. The blackened fish is really good (grouper and snapper specifically) and the beans and rice are great, with a healthy dose of latent heat. I appreciate that the (very mid) vegetables they used to force-include with entrees in years past are now subbed for a side of your choice (we went healthy and got fries). Kids meals are inoffensive but nothing extraordinary.
The drinks are always heavy pour it seems, with plenty of rum/tequila in many, but also relatively tasty nonetheless. Wife ordered the Berry Blast and I got PJ’s Punch (which definitely packs a punch).
The atmosphere is where it’s at; literally open air seating in an old wooden lodge overlooking the waves. It’s sublime. You’re paying for this — location, location, location.

This was our first time visiting Destin, and Pompano Joe’s was walking distance from our condo. We enjoyed some adult beverages during our daytime beach trip and then came back for dinner with a great view. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service, and our server did a great job handling our party of 7

It’s nice here, ocean view and very friendly staff. Just the space with the table setup is too small. You get to back to back with other customers which I didn’t like. The food was really good and tasted fresh. Calamari and the fresh oysters was divine. I just feel like way too overpriced for the MahiMahi which portion is too small though and taste okay. View is really amazing!

The view was amazing! We specifically asked for a window seat. The windowsill was huge, perfect for enjoying the ocean view with a gentle sea breeze. Most of the food was fried, but very fresh. The fried blue crab claws were bite-sized and easy to eat. The staff were polite and even gave us tips on how to order in a more cost-effective way or try more dishes. Worth a visit.

Disappointing is an understatement! Haven’t been here in 5 years and always loved it, but apparently the food quality has gone way down hill since…
My $50 grouper and lobster was bland at best and the lobster portion was basically the size of a chicken nugget!
My wife’s mahi mahi was chewy without any flavor.
My daughter’s chicken in the Alfredo pasta was probably the worst chicken I’ve tasted in years.
Luckily my other two kids got fried shrimp and chicken nuggets that weren’t bad, but for a $200 meal and an hour wait on the last night of our vacation it literally left a bad taste in my mouth and I’ll never eat here again with as many other good options there are nearby.
