We were looking for a Cuban themed dinner for football Sunday against Miami. Definitely “settled” on El Guajiro, with low expectations – ya know, because of being a mall restaurant.
This place was phenomenal! Got fried plantains, ham croquettes, stewed pork and beef, rice & beans, Cubano sandwiches, and a shrimp dish. All so, so good. Rice wasn’t super flavorful, but was great for the saucy meats.
Pleasantly surprised and will definitely go back for more!

I tried the Cuban sandwich here and it did not disappoint! The bread was perfectly toasted with that light crunch, I changed the pork for the shredded beef was tender and packed with flavor, and the ham added just the right balance. The pickles and mustard gave it a nice tang that tied everything together. Every bite felt authentic and satisfying. Definitely one of the best Cuban sandwiches I’ve had — I’d come back just for this!

Food was excellent and the man who served me was incredibly nice. Ordered rice and black beans, pork, and yuka. Was not disappointed at all.

I generally don’t do that, but this restaurant deserves all the good compliments! Good food and the attendants are really really really sweet and kind. Loved it please, keep your restaurant just like these

I was at the mall, shopping for socks. Big excitement, eh? Got a quick lunch here. It was pretty good for food court food.
Loved the plantains, not too sweet as is often the tendency in the US. The arroz congri was very good as well.
I asked for pork on top. Perhaps it was. It was the only disappointment. Not sure what part of a pig it came from. If I had to guess, I’d say a chicken’s gizzard.
A decent lunch, at a decent price, at a food court, in a mall.

i usually dont do reviews however i was a bit upset with this order not going to lie. I work in this mall so they usually don’t disappoint but today I was craving a cubano (really really good) but they didnt have cubano’s at 1 in the afternoon on tuesday? thought it was weird but decided to try something new which was this sandwich, which honestly only thing that was good was the pickles …. and was given TEN PIECES OF COLD FRIES (ate half the sandwich and 4 fries cause i was genuinely hungry and spent my last dollars on this meal…) lol. yes i counted cause i asked if the meal came with fries and she said yes. shame on the cook who actually served this. it was really disappointing.

If you love Cuban food – especially – the Cuban Sandwhich and fried yucca – this is your place.
The Cuban sandwich was off the chain delicious.
Just like what I ate for years in Tampa. The fried yucca fries were awesome. So good. I will be eating their Cuban Sandwich many times.
The people there, cook included were so nice. This is the happiest I’ve been with a sandwich.

I recently purchased rice, red beans, chicken, yucca, and broccoli from this place, but the food was spoiled and had a terrible odor. I returned to the counter to report the issue, and the first thing the attendant said was that she wouldn’t refund my money due to store policy. Instead, she offered another serving. I explained that the food was clearly rotten and spoiled, but she simply replied that there was nothing she could do. I felt so nauseated that I could barely stand or speak, I had to rush to the ladies’ room. That’s how sick I felt. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Be cautious.

The staff was nice. But the beans had a very off putting taste that to me tasted rancid. It could just be the seasonings used but it just was not good and I couldn’t eat more than two bites. The ropa vieja and rice was okay just a bit expensive for what you’re getting. I hope I’m wrong about the beans being rancid but the sour taste from the broth wasn’t good and made me a bit grossed out
