Ordered online and when I arrived they promptly greeted me and got my food order. Order was still warm when I arrived home. I got the pick 3 combo and my wife got the chicken. The St Louis ribs, brisket, and smoked sausage tasted great and were properly cooked. Coleslaw was phenomenal and the fries were good too. Portion size was perfect! The corn muffins were dry and tasteless and did not care at all for the pickled vegetables, the vinegar was really strong. My wife said her chicken didn’t taste so well because it was sitting on the pickled veggies and also said it was a bit chewy. I would order again though.

Really enjoyed everything we got in the Meat Sweats meal! I’d recommend the pulled pork, chicken, mac and chz, beans, and corn bread. Happy there’s a place like this in Westbrook!

Very legit BBQ – I’m still full a day later. The cuts of meat were insane, some of the most tender, well-cooked brisket and pork I’ve ever had. Staff was friendly, food came out quick, everything was delicious. They had arcade games and do karaoke sometimes. It was a quieter night, but can definitely get lively on there. Probably the most authentic BBQ spot I’ve tried in the area – definitely recommend giving it a try.

This is honestly one of those places where a half star rating would be more appropriate. I would realistically give them a 3.5 stars but bumped it up to 4 instead of rounding down. The positives is they had/have a good deal on $5 pints for Thirsty Thursday and if you prefer whiskey stop in on Wednesday for special pourings if you’d rather that. A large amount of the seating is bar or near bar which is fine with me. Service was friendly and food came out quite quick. I very much enjoyed the PBLT think a BLT with pork belly instead with an incredible aioli as well. Unfortunately tasting the pork belly without sauce as well as brisket from my fiancée’s meal made me realize just how much the sauce was doing for the taste. The brisket was dry and on the colder side (was hoping for more tender and fall apart) but the sauce helped. I would stay away from the brisket and try something else. Overall though a restaurant worth trying at least for the PBLT. It’s nice to have a BBQ option closer than going into downtown Portland with more ideal/easier parking nearby. While that is the pro versus other local BBQ places but the con being the quality may be a touch lower in my opinion at least the brisket.

Real BBQ. Three of us shared the big sampler and brought about half of it home. The only thing we left behind were the cornbread mini-muffins which were dry (and the only disappointment of our visit). BBQ sauce was on the side, like it should be. The taste was smoky, like it should be. The sides were good, especially the collard greens. The banana pudding (with real vanilla wafers!) was a delightful treat that I probably haven’t had since childhood. Like Douglas MacArthur, I shall return.

First time here, probably the last time. Ordered takeout, walked in the entrance and over towards the bar/where they seat people, two employees looked right at me, but didn’t acknowledge me or say anything, waited about 3 minutes before someone came out from out back and even asked me what I needed. Ordered the brisket/house sausage meal combo with mini cornbread muffins and beans. Immediately tried once I got out to my vehicle in the parking lot, sausage was lukewarm and flavorless, mini cornbread muffins were cold, brisket was a bit overcooked but still okay, and the beans were the best part. Proof once again that Maine does not know how to do barbecue. Price was too expensive for what I got, both quality and quantity. I was really looking forward to a new spot for good barbecue, but unfortunately I won’t be going back.

Smelt really good and thought I’d try it. Got the Meat sweats and it has a bunch of food. Pulled pork was really tender, sausage has a little spice to it and made it so much better. Great draft selection as well and drinks are very well done.

Paper City BBQ is the perfect spot to kick back with a happy hour Old Fashioned and some incredible barbecue. The staff is always welcoming, the atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, and the food hits the mark every time. Definitely a must-stop whenever I’m back in Maine.

Got the brisket and chicken dinner. Both were dry taste and textures add it seem like it was not recently smoked. Also the sides tasted like store bought. Mac and cheese was the only decent side. Even the cornbread was soggy and pink and green from sitting in the pickle and onion juice on the plate. I always try a place at least twice so maybe they were having an off night. Will update next time I go. But seems more like a bar that serves bbq than a bbq place. I would recommend you start with a small order they could have been having a bad night.

I was excited to try the bbq here but ended up not loving it. They state the bbq is smoked on site but the meat tasted like it was seasoned with liquid smoke. A low slow bbq is tender and the smoke flavor is infused, this was not the case here. The pulled pork came in a puddle of greasy drippings which probably means it was convection roasted, pulled, and served with the drippings. The slaw was ok. The mini cornbread was dry and cold. The bbq sauces were good, but because the smoke flavoring was so strong and salty, they really just added a layer of flavor that didn’t compliment the dish. The Mac and cheese was ok.
