From the moment you approach the building, the wonderful aroma of Texas barbecue lures you in. Pecan Lodge perfectly captures that booming, rustic BBQ atmosphere.

I ordered the Beef Rib with sides of potato salad and mac & cheese. The Beef Rib was, in a word, AMAZING. The tenderness of the meat was unmistakable, falling right off the bone with a unique, incredible flavor profile. It’s clearly a staple item here and worth every penny.
As for the sides, the Potato Salad (7/10) and Macaroni & Cheese (7.5/10) were solid accompaniments that rounded out the meal well. Definitely a Dallas highlight!

The food was very good. Fast paced line and food came out about 5 minutes after ordering. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of money if you are going with multiple people. We bought the trough it came stacked with enough meat for everyone to eat on and plenty left over. The sides were good but not anything to out of the ordinary. The baked beans were the best of the sides definitely recommend. All of the meat was good and tender besides the burnt ends they were on the drier side. All around everything was good definitely had a great experience.

A historic Dallas BBQ spot with solid but not spectacular BBQ. Needs the BBQ sauce to take it to a 4 star out of 5

My wife hadn’t been to Pecan Lodge and it had been a minute for me so we decided to come. I was curious how it would stack up so many years later now that we’ve tried Cattleack, Hutchins, Terry Black’s, Goldee’s. We ordered a lot of food to try them all. Service was a little less personal, no one cutting the meats in front of you. You order and then your name gets called with your tray(s) of food. I tried asking at if they could cut me a smaller beef rib when I ordered but the cashier said you cannot make requests for size, which is fine but was able to be accommodated at other BBQ places when they’re preparing the meats in front of you. Overall for most meats, I was disappointed how dry they were. Including the brisket, pork ribs. The burnt ends were very dry. They needed the BBQ sauce to make it solid BBQ. The pork rib flavor was better than others and not as salty as Goldee’s, which my wife and I liked. The beef rib was a nice surprise and wasn’t as salty as other places which I liked. Some others may like the seasoning stronger though. For the sides, the Mac and cheese and baked beans stood out. Very gooey Mac and cheese, better than Terry Black’s, and very good flavor for the beans. The coleslaw was average and had an unexpected spicy kick to it at the end. The banana pudding was also average and not spectacular. Overall, we spent a good amount of money for not so impressive BBQ. What saves this rating to be a 4 star is the beef rib and sides. Parking in Deep Ellum is also horrendous. I wouldn’t mind coming back to try their fried chicken or if a friend wanted to go but with so many other options including Terry Black’s down the street, I would be hard pressed to go out of my way to come back.

It’s already difficult to find parking because of the location. To make matters worse, I was given the coldest, toughest brisket possible. I asked for moist, which is the point side, so there wouldn’t have been any issue. Cut in the thickest way possible. It doesn’t pull apart. I’m currently on the keto diet, I don’t think I can muster up the strength to pull it apart. They wasted my time, I spoke with the manager Michael, as I was driving on 75 on the way home, he said I could come back and get a better piece.. but they should know better. That’s perhaps why they slashed a couple dollars off the original price because its not worth what they use to charge. I feel like this was cooked in 2025 and frozen over, absolutely the worse brisket I’ve ever had.

We heard from a few people that this is THE place for Texas BBQ. The line was long but there was no wait at the bar. The food came out very quickly. The brisket and ribs were tender with good seasoning. The BBQ sauce was good and adds to the flavoring. The fried okra was fried okra. I would recommend a different sides.
The slushy margarita was delicious on a hot day but getting the swirl of flavoring was not worth the extra $4. The classic margarita would’ve been just fine.
Overall the food was good. If there’s a short line or seatings at the bar, try it!

IT’S EVERYTHING YOU HEARD IT WAS… AND MORE!

The brisket was exceptional, wonderful flavor, nice smoke ring. The hot mess is a must have. My daughter and I split one and as we ate, the conversation was reduced to moans and groans over how good it tasted.

Every other time we have been here there’s been a line out the door and around the block. Now we know why!

There is no shortage of BBQ choices in Dallas and Pecan Lodge is my favorite for a few things. The pork ribs, burnt ends, turkey are all top notch. The brisket, beef ribs, sausage are great as well. I can’t comment on any other meat…I’ve not had it. Side, haven’t had those either. If by some chance you leave room for somethin sweet, absolutely make it the peach cobbler! Depending on the day, the outside patio is a great place to enjoy hanging out and listening to som live music. I highly recommend going to Pecan Lodge if you are in the area!

Great place to eat! Good meat selection by the pound. The brisket is fantastic, also HIGHLY recommend the Mac & Cheese. Cole slaw also great, with a bit of a spicy kick to it.

One of the contenders for the top pitmaster in deep ellum. The brisket was both tender and moist with plenty of smoke. Some of the best I have had. The burnt ends was less consistent. Some are juicy while others were dry. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Good alcohol pairings for great bbq.

Looking forward to coming. Hadn’t been here in over 10 years.
Fried chicken was flavorful & juicy. Mac n Cheese was lacking if you ate it without the bacon bites.
Turkey was flavorful. Burnt ends were cold.
Hominy was very tasty.
Sad they no longer offer a military discount.
