This is Shelly’s Special. It comes with two Louisiana hot links over a bed of red beans and rice with your choice of two sides. I had it with mac and cheese and steak fries. The Louisiana hot links were juicy and fully cooked. I love their Mac and cheese; they burn the top so it’s crispy, which I love when they do that. The plate costs $16.95, which is not bad at all because of the portions they serve.

If you like down home cooking check out this place. The staff is super friendly, very attentive. The food is delicious and fresh. The waffle is Fluffy and crispy on the outside. The fried chicken is hot and crispy and tasty. I will definitely come back for some more!

The fried half chicken was just average with older chicken taste. The waffle was crunchy. The pan fried potato was burnt and crumbled. It was just another chicken restaurant that I tried but there was nothing special for me to come back to. Note: parking is in the back or along Holt Boulevard.

Super delicious chicken and waffles. The chicken was perfectly seasoned. The waffles were totally fresh and fluffy and came with enough butter and syrup. The potatoes were awesome and the eggs are done right. Service was great. Prices were really reasonable for the huge plates of food we got. Really excited to come back here in the future, really enjoyed this meal.

Had a really good experience today. The food was amazing and our waitress was very nice and attentive, she was juggling all the tables and we had a speedy service. We will be coming back thank you! Customers need to learn this isn’t fast food, its a sit down diner. I work in food service and I understand it takes time to get freshly made food. Thank you again. Can’t wait to come back!

This little spot was amazing to be honest! it wasn’t expensive for what we got (real soul food & Cajun-Creole is hard to find in so cal) They have a good menu with a large selection, the food didnt take long at all either. me and my lady both loved our meals and neither could finish because how much food they gave.
Also the lady who took the order had some quality that could only be described as southern charm, such pleasant and happy energy is hard to find honestly.
I cant wait to go back, I wanted so many things on the menu, its a shame we only ordered 2 things. I took pictures of the smothered pork chops which i got, and the catfish and fried chicken plate with an extra waffle that my girl got. (Breakfast all day)

If “never judge a book by its cover” was a place that sold chicken and waffles, this would be it. Execution is disarmingly excellent.You know the feeling you get when something is not only as good as you expected, but surprisingly, even better? If you like that feeling as much as I do, this place should be on your agenda. I am admittedly snobbish judging collard greens, but theirs are 100% certified.

I am a female door dasher that attempted to pick up from this place and as soon as I entered this restaurant the owner immediately started accusing me of being a “liar” for arriving late to pick up an order” (I was on time according to DoorDash) yelling at me , disrespecting me, being extremely rude and kept cutting me off while trying to explain “why I was late” etc. He then proceeded to continue yelling at me and telling me to get out, not being about to deliver the order I was there for. He told me that I was no longer welcomed there, and despite the fact that my stepdad worked for this ungrateful man.He obviously does not care about his customers and about his customer service. This was extremely unprofessional and I for sure not return to this horrible restaurant with this horrible owner. I will be taking this situation very seriously even though he does mention that he does not care so we will see how much he really doesn’t care. I am very disappointing on what happened today nobody should ever be treated the way this man treated me today I am just a 19 year old female that was just trying to make a little extra cash. And to any DoorDashers out there don’t arrive late or you will get yelled at as well.

I’m gonna first say that I wish I would’ve know that Day day’s was around 15 years ago but man, I’m I glad I found it. I grew up eating homemade soul food as my younger sister is creole and that’s some major comfort food for me. I grew up in P-town as we call it and to know there’s a top quality, top notch soul food spot locally, is amazing! The atmosphere is super chill and was like walking into Day Day’s house and greeted with great family hospitality. The area is pretty sketchy so keep your head on a swivel but when you’re inside you’ll forget about it. The service was great. They were on top of making sure we were stocked up and refills kept coming, napkins were replenished and so forth. A+ service!
Let’s get to the food now…I’ve had some amazing soul food and I’m gonna say that this tops pretty much most of what I’ve had. It’s right up there with my Big mom(creole grandmother).
This tops any of the soul food spots I’ve had in the La area and beyond. You can taste the perfect balance of seasoning and flavor. Day Day puts love and passion in his food to say the least. The waffles and fried chicken ♂️
