Ate here for the first time ever earlier tonight. I’m almost neurotic about calculating expenses and knowing where every penny goes. I had calculated the total to be $29.86. The wait person returned with a bill for $38!!!!They grabbed my card from my fingers and tried tapping it repeatedly to complete the payment. The joke was on them because my card was old enough to not be tapped.
Now mind you, this is the same person who met us at the door and had spoken perfect English all night until we caught the place trying to steal from me! Then…oops…no habla ingles.
Not only did they try to double bill us, but they double taxed the attempted theft! As we left I noticed a strobe akin to a traffic camera light that wasn’t flashing as we went in. I made note to my cohort that I thought we were being
surveilled. If I know him, he smiled with his fingers.
Out what it was so I never got to eat one bit of it so it went in the trash I do not have Money to throw away like this I been so pissed. I will never eat there again I will stop to try get my Money back . The girl needs go pay attention i told no i want this twice she still put down what she thought when is it there point to pick our orders without consequences. Im so over eating out people better off fixing there own food just to avoid these issues wr atd supposed to accept it since we are home with the food.
The chips were brought to the table first with a bowl of salsa and bean dip. I ordered a bowl of queso as well for review. The salsa is a bit spicier than the usual restaurant style salsa, but fresh and flavorful! The bean dip was mild but still held a decent taste. The queso surprised me, as I expected the basic white dip. Instead of the common queso, this had a unique buttery flavor blended within. This gave the queso much more of a homemade taste.
The rice and beans were lightly flavored and perfectly moist, highly complementary to any dish.
The chicken enchilada was flavorful, but not in the authentically vibrant spiced way. Lightly black pepper speckled, seemed more mellow than I expected, but still good.
The tamale was the winner for me!!! Oh, so flavorful and moist! Taste of home vibes for sure, absolutely the savior of the dish. The menu didn’t state the type of meat nestled inside the tamale but seemed a pork blend.
Overall, I’m glad I happened upon Rio, I would definitely visit again. The portion size was perfect, not too small or too overwhelming.
For myself and guest to enjoy a lunch special each, shared queso and chips, and two waters, the price was about $30 (plus tip). I’d consider it well worth the price, go try it out!
