While this restaurant is on the smaller side, they do have plenty of seating inside and in their outdoor patio (covered). They also have a drive-thru where you can place orders.
I opted to dine inside since I wasn’t familiar with their menu. I came with a party of 6 and we ordered a variety of items from their menu.
* Chips and salsa: Crunchy and still warm. It paired well with the spicy red salsa or the milder green salsa.
* Bean and Cheese Burrito: I can tell they make their tortillas fresh here. The flour tortilla was nice and thin with a good chew to it. The beans were flavorful and not overly salted like other places. The cheese they used were the standard shredded cheese you’d find at the grocery store. The burrito was huge so it didn’t hold up well to the runnier white beans. Still delicious. 8/10
* Cotija Burrito – If a menu item has the restaurant’s name in it, you definitely have to order it and that’s what we did. It was a great choice because this burrito was absolutely delicious! The carne asada was seasoned perfectly and it complemented all the ingredients that went in with it. It was so so good! We ordered a few of these to bring back to each of our homes. 10/10
* Mexican Milk Jello – I like it to be a little firmer but it still had good flavor. 7/10
* Horchata – Delicious with the food we ate. 8/10
The young lady who helped us with our large order of food and drinks (and to go orders) was patient and friendly.
They have parking spaces around the building but be careful for cars that are entering and exiting as you are parking.
Overall, I liked Cotija’s Taco Shop: The atmosphere was colorful and vibrant, and inviting; the customer service was good; and the food was delicious! I definitely will be back again the next time I’m in the area.
Note: Total bill with takeout and tip came out a little over $160.
The wait time is a little longer, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Employees speak both English and Spanish, which makes the customer service experience a breeze.
