I went with a group of 4 friends and it was my first time there. The chips/salsa and drinks came out right away. We had time to go through the menu and decide on what we wanted. The food came out hot and delicious! Everyone got something different and everything was plated well and the smells were amazing! I highly recommend and will be back.

This place is the place to be on a Friday evening. We arrived around 5ish in the evening with a group of 4 adults and 2 kids under 3.
Our waiter was really great very accommodating for the kids and gave us great service.
The chips continued to come warm with delicious salsa that we all enjoyed.
I ordered the el grande burrito and it was amazing! So delicious. Highly recommend. It’s large enough to share too.
We sat at a booth and we were all comfortable enough too. Highly recommend this place.

Great food, quick service, great space and atmosphere! We like to get the Guadalajara special since it makes about two meals! My kids enjoy their virgin daiquiris and we enjoy their margarita specials! Plenty of outdoor seating when the weather is nice!

Stopped in our way thru, was very easy access from I-80. All the servers were wonderful. Had an excellent margarita!! Food was quick and delicious! Bathrooms were spotless!!! Very happy with our visit!!

Stuffs were friendly but the lady who was always there to attend any need, doesn’t know English Atmosphere was good and ambient, I must say. We ordered fajitas, tacos & drink. All the items tasted good and we love their free starter (Salsa & chips). Overall we enjoyed the dinner.
N.B: they should clean the the table before new customers take that table. It yikes to sit infront of others leftovers.

First time ever at Los Agaves. Came here while visiting from another city. The atmosphere and location was clean, cultural and good music. The service was kind and professional, and the food was delicious. We will definitely visit again when coming to Iowa City. Thank you, Los Agaves !

This was honestly one of the best meals I’ve had in a Mexican restaurant anywhere in the USA. The portions are absolutely wild, prices are amazing, food was fresh and delicious, decor is nice, and the staff was incredibly friendly!
Our car broke down on the highway and we had to spend two nights at the travel lodge hotel next door. We ate here twice in those two days because it was so incredible.
We had the chili relleno and the seafood chimichanga special. The chili relleno was massive, and they even give you TWO plus four tortillas to make your own little tacos with the plate. The seafood chimichanga was so stuffed with shrimp and lump crab meat I couldn’t believe it.
If you find yourself in Iowa city, do yourself a favor and make sure you stop at this secret treasure. You will thank yourself for a long time to come!!

Came here Cinco de Mayo this year, it was crowded, but fast service, awesome food (as I recall, got a grilled shrimp dish), drinks. Not so much today. Review total above averages the two trips. 5 stars across the board in May. Today, you got it, pretty poor. Got lunch special with Enchilada, rice and a taco. Tasteless, and all was lukewarm at best on arrival. No seasoning, even the salsa was bland. Got a margarita, it was good. Not great, but good. I’ll definitely be back, as I’m in town monthly based solely on my Cinco de Mayo experience. But based on today alone, would never return. I knew they can kill this, l but today was so disappointed.
