I’ve heard people in town say Orso is overrated and I completely disagree. It’s our first time here and had a DELICIOUS meal! We were so full and our foodie souls were satisfied afterwards. We ordered the Filet Mignon and it was a great portion enough for two and had this tasty demi glace that I couldn’t get enough of. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and was so so tender. We also ordered the Seafood Gemelli which was packed with so much protein and was elevated with pasta from AK Pasta Company (I always love the pasta from places who use them) and a cream based lemon pesto sauce. Ambiance was also beautiful and not rowdy despite how busy it was. Service is great too and they even offered me a vase for my flowers. Cannot wait to come back! Thank you Orso.

Great filet mignon! Expensive! Worth it.

The food here was amazing. Eveything had God taste, flavor, and texture. The mashed potatoes were great. The steak was cooked perfect and the sauce was tasty.

Somehow I had never made it into this place.

Go here instead of Simon’s (Simon and seaforts).

I’ll let the images speak

Had an amazing dinner. Food was absolutely delicious and seasoned great. The filet had to be one of the best steaks I ever had.

Walking into Orso, I immediately felt comfortable. The atmosphere is casual enough to keep things relaxed, but there’s an attention to detail in the décor and service that makes dinner here feel like a special occasion.

I ordered the halibut, and honestly, it might be one of the freshest pieces of fish I’ve ever tasted. The flavor was so clean and bright that it almost didn’t need anything extra, though the light seasoning and perfectly cooked finish elevated it to something amazing. You could absolutely tell it hadn’t traveled far—anchored in Alaska’s seafood reputation, it tasted like the ocean in the best possible way.

For dessert, I couldn’t resist the pistachio cake. I’m so glad I didn’t skip it because it was a showstopper. Moist, nutty, and subtly sweet, it had the kind of balance where every bite made me want to slow down just to make it last longer. It wasn’t overly heavy either, which made it the perfect end to the meal.

The staff were warm and attentive without hovering. They seemed genuinely happy to guide first-time visitors like me through the menu, which added to the positive experience.

Overall, Orso gave me exactly what I was hoping for in an Anchorage dinner: excellent local seafood, thoughtful touches, and a dessert I’ll be craving again soon. If you’re visiting, especially if you want to taste halibut at its freshest, this place is a must.

Never disappointed in the food! The tenderloin tips appetizer is so delicious and rich! I always get that. The creme brulee is a devine sweet little cup of heaven. Last time I was here they had sold out of it as well as the osso buco, a lamb shank. I’ve only herd of great things about this item ut havent had it yet. Next time I will come with a ravenous appetite for the lamb shank. They have a small but good non alcoholic drink menu. For this holiday season they have a special drink menu available. They have open seating at the bar (right side) so I didn’t have to wait. They have a 2nd floor as well. I suggest reservations for larger parties.

The food here was very good and we focused on seafood, namely, the king crab, and a halibut dish, both of which were fresh and delicious. A vegetarian colleague reported that the portobello mushroom parm was excellent. Service was quick and friendly and they have good dessert options too. The place gets very crowded and we reserved an early table to avoid the wait.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. The food was superb and the atmosphere very casual and comfortable. The service was acceptable if a little slow. I will definitely consider this as a dining option in the future.

I dined at Orso in downtown Anchorage and really enjoyed the experience. I ordered the halibut dinner, and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. The atmosphere stood out too. The scenery feels older but upscale, with a distinct 70s–80s vibe that gives the restaurant a classic, timeless charm. It’s a great spot if you’re looking for quality food paired with a refined yet nostalgic ambiance.

The bar tender Kevin changed everything. He went above and beyond. I will say there deserts are pre made and frozen. Avoid them, but everything else was great.
The tenderloin appetizer was overcooked. Avoid that also

Disappointed in the quality of the food. The king crab legs were good, but the couscous wasn’t edible. The grilled squash and zucchini were just okay. The grilled asparagus was very good. Service was very good. All in all, I would not go back. Even with a 20% discount due to buying gift cards at Costco, I don’t feel the meal was worth the money. The Bavarian Hefeweizen was the best part of the meal. My husband had the grilled ribeye. We both felt we make a better steak at home.
