My daughter and I visited for our final dinner in Brisbane after dining at Bianca, which belongs to the same group, a couple of days earlier. We were curious about Same Same’s dishes and excited to try them.

Although Thai cuisine often includes spicy sauces and strong spices, my daughter and I are quite familiar with Thai food, so we were looking forward to experiencing Thai-inspired fusion dishes. We arrived about an hour after opening, and the restaurant was already very busy :0 it felt like it would have been difficult to get a table without a reservation. We reserved seats at the bar table and truly enjoyed watching the chefs cook while having our meal.

Most of all, Kenny, who took care of our table, made our evening unforgettable. From beginning to end, he gave us thoughtful recommendations and wonderful service. He was truly professional. If this had not been our last day in Brisbane, we would definitely have returned again.

Kenny’s kindness and manners made this experience especially memorable for both my daughter and me. Of course, the food was outstanding as well.
Thank you for giving us such a special and unforgettable evening.

We stayed at The Calile, which made Same Same an easy choice as it’s directly opposite — and we’re very glad we went. We were seated at the counter, which was a great experience as we could watch the chefs at work and really feel part of the action.

The staff were very knowledgeable and genuinely smiley, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They recommended an excellent Australian Riesling, which we especially appreciated — coming from Germany, we’re quite particular about a good Riesling, and this one did not disappoint.

The food was outstanding and instantly brought us back to our last holidays in Thailand, full of flavour and beautifully balanced. Combined with the buzzing, lively atmosphere, it made for a fantastic evening. We’d happily return on our next visit to Brisbane.

Not just a lunch but an experience. My friend took me out to this amazing restaurant. We had the banquet, each serving I tasted was delicious. The fresh ingredients were so refreshing. The waiters were all friendly and polite. It is a clean environment and watching the chefs work was entertaining. I highly recommend this restaurant

After a morning spent planning our next holiday, we decided to swing by Same Same on James Street in Fortitude Valley for a bite. It’s been a while since I last visited, so I was eager to see how the place had evolved since opening. The moment we stepped in, it was clear the vibe was still spot on.
Located in the heart of Fortitude Valley, Same Same is part of the Anyday Restaurant Group, and it definitely lives up to the reputation. We managed to score a spot at the bar, which gave us a perfect view of the chefs in action, showcasing their culinary skills as the kitchen buzzed. Even though it was busy, the staff were on the ball, attentive, friendly, and happy to answer any questions we had about the menu.
We kicked things off by diving into the extensive cocktail list. Each one was fresh, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, ideal for a hot Brisbane day. The drink selection is definitely worth noting.
As for the food, Same Same offers an impressive menu, with options ranging from à la carte to banquets. We decided to stick with à la carte and started with a couple of snacks. The Sa-Koo Sai Moo was a standout, delicate Thai dumplings stuffed with caramelised pork and coriander, this was flavour-packed and delicious.
Next, we tried the Betel Leaf with Prawn, topped with lemongrass, coconut, and chilli. The prawn was fresh, but I did struggle a bit with the size of the leaf, it was a tad small to wrap up the bite neatly.
For mains, we opted for a fresh salad of Grilled Pork Belly and Green Mango, complemented by crunchy snowpeas and a roasted shallot dressing. The salad was a lovely balance of sweetness, tang, and heat, with the chilli providing a nice kick. We also went for the Wagyu Beef Cheek Massaman Curry, which came with a side of fluffy rice and crispy roti. The curry was comforting and rich, with that nostalgic home-cooked feel, xlike something your grandmother might make. The beef was tender and melt-in-your-mouth, though I did wish the portion size was just a tad bigger. The roti, on the other hand, was crisp and perfectly done, a great side to scoop up all that curry goodness.
After the meal, we decided to skip dessert and go for another drink instead—perfect way to round off a relaxed lunch.

Overall, Same Same is a fantastic spot for any occasion—whether you’re after a casual lunch, a laid-back dinner, or just craving some top-notch Thai food. The combination of great food, attentive service, and lively atmosphere makes it a winner. I’ll definitely be back!

Coming back into Brisbane we wanted to try something new. Being Thai we thought sAme sAme would be another Thai asian place but we were wrong. The food was Asian with a Modern twist, turning contemporary Thai cuisine into something new and exciting to eat whilst maintain the depth of flavour we expect from Thai food. We ordered mamy dishes but these two stood out the most for me. First the Ox Toung was out of this world. It was soft and did not smell at all. Eaten with the cured egg yolk, galangal chili paste, and beatle leaf offers a perfect balance flavour. Secondly, id recommemd the banna flower salad as it is a great dish to help balance the deep intense flavours of the other dishes available. The food overall was great and we were not dissapointed, the price was moderate, but for what we got, It was worth every penny.

I would like to highlight the service provided by the staff. All the staff who served us were extremely polite and energetic making our night ever more enjoyable. A special shout out to Mei who was serving our section. She was proactive and consistently checking up on us. Our glass were always full with water or drinks and our empty plates were cleared away soon after we finished eating. She displayed the pinnacle of what the service industry has to offer.

The restaurant is located in this commual kinda food up town area of the Fortitude valley and there’s plenty of parking when we went. The bit i was sitting was a bit dark for my liking but it was alright and was able to read fine. I do wonder how the kitchen staff could see though, as their was very little light around the kitchen as well.

Overall, great food, good location and amazing service and dining experience. Definitly recommend and will be coming back next time.

Food & drinks ✅✅✅
Food menu is creative and also very tasty

Service – average
Table is booked but still have to wait a while until someone talk to us even there were a few waiters walked passes.

Atmosphere – average
The waiter didn’t mention anything and wipe the aircon above our drinks. It could be dusty as well apart from the dripping water.

I’ll go back but definitely choose better seats that do not have dripping air- con up the top

Food was divine, full of flavour. The 130/p banquet hit the spot, offers a unique culinary venture for the pallet. Will definitely come back!

Staff are attentive, at times it felt a bit over bearing, too many people trying to serve you and there is a lack of communication amongst them. People know how to read menus, they can differentiate between a food and beverage menu.

Bar stools become uncomfortable with minimal back support as the night wears on. Try and avoid the counter tables if you can.

With so many great non alcaholic beers on the market, your choice is surprisingly poor. Free time or hiatus would pair well with your meals. Cru bar next door has a great list including the Moritz. Even your sister restaurant Biànca offers mambrea which is terrific.

We celebrated a milestone anniversary here. What an unforgettable evening. From our arrival where we received a special card & complimentary champagne. Head chef, Arte, made our meal very memorable. The food was delicious Thai cuisine, one of our faves. Seated by the busy kitchen, we saw a very well organised team put together an amazing amt of meals.
We would highly recommend dining here, though not for those wanting a quiet intimate backdrop. We will definitely be back next visit to Brisvegas. Thank you so much Arte!

Emily who was dedicated for our table service was absolutely amazing, such fun, bubbly personality and was super helpful in helping my wife with some alternative options to the seafood dishes, nothing was too much or too little to ask. The food was too die for, we had the $130 banquet and it was to die for, great portion sizes. This is my 2nd time at Same Same and I can’t wait to book a table here again. Thank you Same Same Team! ♥️
