This is a charming, family-owned restaurant that truly stands out. The food is consistently delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. It’s one of our favorite places to bring the family, and it’s equally great for meeting up with friends. They offer wonderful comfort food, and their desserts are especially impressive. The staff is warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. I highly recommend giving this local gem a try.

Today I tried a new spot in Bartlett — Pop’s Comfort Kitchen — and let me just say… it absolutely lives up to its name.

I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, plus a side of broccoli. The portion sizes were generous (like, truly Southern grandma generous), and everything came out hot and fresh.

The country fried steak was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and smothered in a rich, peppered gravy that had that homemade taste — not the watered-down kind. The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth with a hearty scoop of gravy on top, and the broccoli was simple, steamed, and perfectly cooked — a nice balance to the heavier comfort sides.

What I loved most? It felt like real, unfussy, stick-to-your-ribs food. The kind you order when you want something satisfying and familiar.

If you’re local to Bartlett and craving classic comfort food, this is definitely worth checking out. I’ll be back to try more of the menu.

Have y’all eaten at Pop’s yet? What should I order next time? ️

10/14/25 – just tried it again. Left off the sauce AGAIN. But this time for the stuffed bell peppers. I sent husband to return everything. Guess they cant get any order correct. WILL NEVER ORDER FROM POPS AGAIN.

Food is always delicious when its there. Just picked up a to-go order and my salad was not in the bag which I paid extra and the sauce with the corn nuggets. Very disappointing.

Went there for lunch. Wife loves liver and onions and they serve that every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Liver and onion was cooked well with good portion. Comes with 2 sides and cover of roll or cornbread. I got the hamburger steak with mushroom sauce along with 2 sides: turnip greens and fried zucchini and choice of bread. Overall the food is good, service attentive and ambience calm. Background music is mostly from the 1960s
Also they give 10% discount to seniors on Wednesdays.

Pops didn’t believe in season and it shows smh.
Cornbread was dry as ever!
Nothing was season the salmon croquettes were dry and unseasoned smh.
The deviled eggs had so much dill in them I couldn’t bring myself to eat another where as when they are made correctly you can’t pull me off.
The Mac n cheese was as to be expected just globbed shredded cheese and no seasonings
Honestly the only thing tasty was those 2 hush puppies
Everything else was Just Bad

As you can see, I had shrimp and grits. The food was hot, fresh, and seasoned to perfection. We had a very attentive waitress too. The live music was perfect as well.

Pepper Jack Bacon Burger and the Chicken Salad were excellent. Topped off with some Bread Pudding. Came back two weeks later for catfish and Pig Lickin Cake. See pics.

2 years later and I’m a regular. Comfort Food. Great deserts. Oversize portions on a lot of the selections. Their idea of a ‘cup’ of soup is huge, the shrimp tacos will fill up a fat gut, and BLT with a ridiculous among of bacon.

The food was awful! It was the worst cornbread I’ve ever had, it was cold and dry. The service was wonderful! I had the Country Fried steak with gravy (ok), mashed potatoes (cold), Turnip greens (no seasoning at all and cold), and Green beans (awful). My sister had a salad (fair) and a Cheeseburger (rubbery and dry). A waste of $42.00.

Walking into Pop’s Comfort Kitchen, you’re immediately greeted by a great environment and a good selection of music that sets a welcoming tone. The service here doesn’t disappoint either; it was prompt and attentive. A special shout-out to Denise, who made sure my dining experience was smooth and enjoyable.

For my meal, I opted for the Country Fried Steak with Brown Gravy, accompanied by Pinto Beans, Macaroni Cheese, and a cup of coffee. The steak itself was reminiscent of a Steak Milanesa in thickness, but the breading was a bit overwhelming. While the pinto beans and macaroni cheese were satisfactory, they could benefit from a boost in flavor to match the comfort food vibe of the place. The brown gravy, on the other hand, was a delightful addition, complementing the Country Fried Stake perfectly. The coffee was a standout—rich, robust, and exactly what you need to round off a hearty meal.

When it comes to value, Pop’s Comfort Kitchen hits the mark. The price was right for the quality and quantity of food served. While this visit was a mixed bag in terms of the dishes, the extensive menu promises more exploration. Should I find myself in the area again, I’ll definitely return to try something different. Pop’s Comfort Kitchen has the potential to be a regular go-to spot for those who appreciate a laid-back dining experience with the comforts of home cooking.

Placed an online order to go with a scheduled pickup time. There were plenty of employees at the front of the restaurant. However, only 1 of them was able to help the customers with online orders, and she was busy answering the phone multiple times in a row. Once she was able to assist the group of us waiting, she packaged our order. I was informed by the doordash driver, who was also waiting for an order, that the employees were not the usual staff and therefore that is why it took longer than normal.

The chicken tender meal, along with the side dishes, was very good. We ordered mac & cheese and crispy cabbage to go with it. The shrimp & grits were flavorful yet way too salty.
