My husband surprised me with a birthday dinner here and let me tell you this place was INCREDIBLE! We were sat at a beautiful table with flower petals all over with a cute happy birthday note as well. Our server Julia was so sweet and helped make our first time extra special. An extensive list of wines, beers and even cocktails, I had the midnight seattle which came with an extra table side show highly recommended you try it! Since it was a Friday night it was busy so when our server was taking a large group order a manager quickly came over to help take our orders and even gave us a table side caesar salad show. Everyone we spoke with was kind and made us feel like part of the family. It even said happy birthday on our menus which they sleeved for us to take home! We were even given doggie treats after they found out we had dogs, allergen free as well. The ambience was so relaxing , even with the noise of everyone enjoying their dinners, my husband and I could still easily speak to one another. All of the food was amazing , my husband devoured a bone in rib eye that was cooked perfectly medium rare while I enjoyed a delicious salmon and duck breast. We were so full we couldn’t eat the desert so they packed up whatever desert we wanted to let us take home. If you are thinking about going to this restaurant, think no more and make that reservation. My husband and I cannot wait to go back!

I’ll try not to be biased since we got engaged here LOL, but El Gaucho truly deserves five stars. We were originally going to be seated near the bar, but after my now fiancé asked for a lower and nicer table, the hostess kindly moved us, which we really appreciated.

Our server, Todd, was very helpful and knowledgeable with the menu. He did also help with the proposal, making the night extra special. Our steaks were cooked perfectly with a great crust, and the truffle butter was delicious, just rich so use sparingly.

Between the amazing food, the live pianist, and the ambiance, it was an unforgettable experience. This restaurant will forever be so special to us.

Lost all of its charm with the new building

I used to love the charm and food of el gaucho so much.

This past experience was very disappointing. My steak was under medium rare and fleshy but i was hungry and didn’t want to wait so i just ate it. I figured when i heat up the left overs the next at least it won’t be over.

Appetizers:

-Brussel sprouts were not good

-Table side Caesar salad (minimum 2 person order) was the best thing. Really good croutons but they didn’t make it with anchovies

-duck fat fries with truffle aioli pretty good

-table side baked potato- wack! they asked i wanted everything on it. “Yes” apparently everything is just green onions and butter. They scoop the potato our and separate the skin so it still has that shape. Stir/mash the potatoes until it’s basically mashed potatoes in a potato skin. The cold stone the butter and green onion into it. The only teo toppings you cna have are butter and green onions. Just save yourself and get the baked potato at Wendy’s on the way home. At least you can get “everything” on it.

I had the baseball cut sirloin that was very under. Better the next day when i recooked it.

(Not pictured) Wagyu was 4 thinly slices pieces on the plate.

-Peppercorn new york was too saucy, if you get it i recommend getting the sauce on the side.

We got seated in the back room maybe because we were not dressed up as we just came from the aquarium. We could not hear the piano at all and the back room sucks for ambiance.

Our server was good.

Also we called to see if they could accommodate an extra person for our table which they couldn’t, however while we were seated there the table next to us asked the same thing and they were accommodated right away.

Overall i miss the old world charm of the old place. It was a big reason to go and it was like walking into a time capsule.

The new spot just feels like a generic chain restaurant.

For 3 adults the tab was $600 with drinks

It will be awhile until i come back here. The best thing i ate was the caesar salad. The croutons made it shine.

My favorite steak house is the Met and that still holds true.

We were celebrating my son‘s birthday and he chose El gaucho. This is fine dining at its best… very elegant, clean beautiful a nice pianist was playing. Seating was comfortable and set gorgeously! our waiter. He was introduced as one of “the originals” and I cannot remember if his name was Art. ??? Or something else ??? He was fantastic !!! so accommodating very knowledgeable. My son wanted a bottle of wine and the presentation of opening and pouring was phenomenal. The potato I ordered. It was a loaded, baked potato, and the waiter prepared it in front of us …now you might say it’s just a potato. This was the best baked potato I have ever had‼️‼️‼️. I don’t know what was in that butter It was beyond delicious. Our waiter was so attentive. He was wonderful. The price is what you would expect at a fine dining steak house establishment. My husband did end up, picking up the tab for my son’s birthday and he was surprised the bottle of wine was not more expensive …so pricing was reasonable with other fine dining establishments. If I could have purchased the furniture in the ladies restroom, I would have!! it was beautiful!!! the crystal mirror the black velvet sofa, orchids…. It was gorgeous. Loved every minute of this dining experience. And more importantly, my son, who was celebrating his birthday… loved it as well… at the end of our meal …a birthday dessert was brought to the table. Lovely experience! There were a total of six in this dinner party.

It’s a beautiful place with excellent service. The food was delicious, and the staff pays close attention to every detail, especially if you’re celebrating a special occasion. They are very helpful in making sure everything turns out perfect. It’s a bit pricey, but definitely worth it for special occasions.

Highly recommended!

We recently celebrated a coworker’s 30th birthday at El Gaucho in Seattle, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. When I booked online, I noted the birthday, and we were genuinely surprised and impressed to arrive and find a personalized birthday letter at the table along with menus printed with a Happy Birthday message. It was such a thoughtful touch and made the evening feel special right away.

For appetizers, we ordered the seafood tower, scallops, which were both fresh, generous, and beautifully presented, along with the classic tableside Caesar salad. The Caesar was exceptional! perfectly seasoned and prepared with that signature El Gaucho flair. Every appetizer we had was delicious, and I can honestly say there wasn’t a single dish that fell short.

For mains, we each chose our own steaks. I had the New York strip, which was cooked to perfection and incredibly flavorful. The standout of the night, though, was the A5 Wagyu that one of us ordered. It truly melted in your mouth – easily one of the best bites of steak I’ve ever had.

For dessert, we couldn’t resist the tableside Bananas Foster, and it did not disappoint. Watching it being prepared was a delight, and the flavor was even better. I definitely finished mine and then helped with someone else’s.

We enjoyed some excellent wine as well; the sommelier was gracious, knowledgeable, and helped us pick selections that paired beautifully with the meal. Service overall was impeccable – from the sommelier to our server to the staff preparing tableside dishes, everyone was warm, attentive, and clearly committed to giving us a great experience.
The ambience was classic and elegant, with live piano music adding to the atmosphere. It was a bit loud since we were seated right next to the piano, but the music was beautiful and added to the celebratory energy of the night. There was also a small wedding reception happening nearby, which made the whole space feel even more festive.

Overall, everything we ordered tasted amazing, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere made the evening feel truly special. I would absolutely give El Gaucho Seattle five stars and highly recommend it for celebrations, date nights, or any time you want a truly exceptional steakhouse experience.

We were visiting Seattle as part of our 25th anniversary on December 2025. Our friends took us out to El Gaucho to celebrate. This is what I would call a “dining experience.” No detail was spared! The steaks were impressive enough that I would feel at ease recommending to my Argentine friends (if you know, you know!).
The service was impeccable from the moment we walked in, to our last pics before leaving. If you’re looking for an unrivaled dining experience, look no further. Thank you to the entire staff for an unbelievable experience and to our new friends for sharing our anniversary with us.

This place is top notch! The food was yummy, the atmosphere is amazing! The piano player, Martin Ross… Next Level! I have some dietary restrictions and was very nervous about eating out and being that person to request what the food is prepared with, but our server was amazing and so understanding. She was able to work with the cooks to ensure I could eat delicious food with everyone else and not worry about eating anything I shouldn’t.
Highly recommend this place

True gem on Seattle’s restaurants map! Superb service and the best stakes I had in my life. Starting with quality of meat, through preparation and up to serving. Everything was worth the price paid! One of the very few spots I would love to visit again. Thank you for the amazing experience

No negatives about this place. Impressed by the food, the service of each individual staff member, & the atmosphere of the restaurant. Every dish we ordered was absolutely incredible. Stars of the show were the oysters & rib eye steak (not pictured).
