We were planning on stopping by a friend of ours house for a small party this evening, but they were feeling under the weather so we switched things up and went to Crispy’s Jax over in Springfield.
We’ve been to Crispy’s a handful of times over the past few months and tried a few things on the menu. Nearly every time we’ve been there we’ve seen pizzas go by us and thought “dang, we really need to try their pizza some time”. So when we decided to go there tonight I figured we’d finally do that. In addition to that, my wife informed me that she was going to have Garlic Knots no matter what.
So yes, we ordered Garlic Knots to start. I don’t know why, but I was expecting them to be a bit tough. I guess maybe I’ve just had them at other places and they’re usually thick / tough, so that’s what I figured these would be. They weren’t. They were really soft, in the best way. Not doughy or under cooked, just soft, warm and very good!
We debated what pizza to go with and eventually settled on The Klutho, which is more or less their meat lovers pizza. We also did the garlic butter crust at the suggestion of our server. I’ll start by saying thank you to our server for that suggestion because that was some good crust. I’m happy to report that we both thought the pizza tasted as good as we both thought it looked every time it went by us before. Let me put it this way: if the pizza in my photo looks great to you, yes, it’s that good.
Like I said, we’ve been to Crispy’s a few times over the past couple of months and we just like the place a lot. We didn’t plan to go there tonight when the day began but I’m glad it worked out that we ended up there. Now we’ve got about half a pizza to split for work-from-home lunches over the next few days. Boyfriend is super into trying new pizzas and says he doesn’t usually like meat lovers style pizza, but he loves the Klutho pizza and says it’s the best meat lovers he has had.
Downside is, on Jags away game Sundays- apparently they don’t have enough staff. Waited about 45 minutes before someone came up to us to get our drink order. More family showed up (only four total of us) and they ended up waiting 30 minutes to get their drink order after they got here. In total, 1.5 hrs of waiting til we ordered pizza. I had to get up multiple times to ask the waiters for things. It was only ok and we didn’t leave because of the Jags Watch Party. Otherwise, definitely would’ve left after 20 mins. The manager guy (if thats the manager) is nice though!

Crispy’s was the perfect spot to hit for a local beer and good food. The wings looked great but we choose the pizza instead and it was amazing. Good people and new now ownership so the atmosphere and life is getting better. Worth stopping in!

We had a Christmas Party here and were seated upstairs. It was the perfect spot. Our server Isaac was dedicated to our party of 15 and he learned every single person’s name and remembered it, gave us prompt and accurate service. The food was excellent. The place was hopping because it was Trivia night also. The new owners have made amazing improvements and we love our neighborhood pizza spot. Crispy’s is a great place.

Went for lunch while waiting for a family members surgery at the nearby hospital. Had an hour to eat, got to eat the appetizer (spinach & artichoke dip was delicious), but food wasnt ready by the time we had to leave at the end of the hour, so it was just taken home in a to-go bag. It seems like a nice place to have some drinks and an appetizer with friends.

This establishment once held a special place in my heart, having awarded it a five-star review in the past. However, I now feel compelled to rate it one star due to my recent experience. On January 3, 2025, I visited with my son, who wanted to treat me to dessert for my birthday while I was looking forward to a birthday drink. The bartender, Collin, was genuinely enthusiastic, but unfortunately, my experience did not reflect that positivity.
I requested an espresso martini, but he flatly refused to prepare it. While I hoped he was joking, it became clear that he wasn’t. After several requests went unanswered, I ultimately had to ask another staff member to make my drink. This was quite disappointing.
Moreover, the kitchen manager, Kristen, exhibited rudeness on multiple occasions, leaving a negative impression on me. I’m unsure what her issue is, but her demeanor was anything but welcoming. If you’re still inclined to visit this place, be prepared for potential rudeness from both the bartender and kitchen staff when mistakes happen. Otherwise, there are numerous other pizzerias in town that may offer a more enjoyable experience. Crispy is no longer a recommended destination for me.

We had been here once a few years ago & it was a cool place but couldn’t remember how the food was. We were in the area & decided to give it another try & i am so happy that we did! We had the brushetta bites & the garlic knots as appetizers & even the kids ate the brushetta & the garlic knots were the 2nd best i’ver ever had! We ordered a pizza, the meatball sub & one of the specials for the day, the cuban 2.0. All were delicious, the food came out quickly & it was a good time for all. We will be making the drive from the beaches a little more often!

I ordered to-go wings online. I always order extra crispy and they were perfectly cooked. My flavors were lemon pepper with a side of garlic parm. They put the garlic parm on the wings, which is fine because they were delicious. A DJ was playing Christmas in Brooklyn by Beastie Boys, many TVs with sports playing, barkeep and other staff were friendly as I asked about my order. I will definitely be back.

I was here because of a networking event. If you walk in Crispy’s and go straight back, you will encounter stairs that take you up to a semi-private 2nd level(where the event was.) It was kind of confusing without any signs or people to guide you. There are AWESOME paintings from local artists on the walls. Some great work to choose from, the paintings are large and available to buy. I ordered “The Silver” pizza – Gorgonzola Cheese, Goat Cheese, Mozzarella Cheese & Roasted Garlic White Sauce Topped with Rosemary & Truffle Oil. The pizza looked good other than the burnt, bubbled up parts on top. It was also concerning how GREASY it was – you can see the box looks drenched in the photo with a slice removed. The smell of rosemary was super overpowering but MAN this thing tasted great! A wonderful blend of flavors, I really enjoyed it except for the burnt parts. The people were nice but had trouble finding my order because I ordered online. ? Finding parking was hard and I had to walk a couple of blocks. Overall, great late night spot for pizza. I’d go back to try more.

Great service…Jackie was extremely friendly, professional and fun. The pizza (pepperoni and “meat lover”) was delicious with Great crust. Chicken wings were the best…I recommend the Sweet Thai Chili. They also have pool, darts and other games upstairs. First time…definitely won’t be the last!
