We arrived after 12 and there were a few parking stalls available. Service was prompt and friendly. Since it was our first time here they explained how to order. The portions were generous. However the taste was so so. You can get better kimchi fried rice snd japchae elsewhere. The sesame oil was not flavorful and had no sesame taste. Only thing i enjoyed was the hotteok, pickled onion and pickled cucumbers. At least we tried it once, but i would hesitate coming back.

My sister and her family love this restaurant. There was a newer location that opened near them but they still prefer to drive further to this location. This time, we had a party of seven (4 adults + 2 kids + 1 baby). We got there at around 5 on a Saturday and waited maybe about 10 minutes. Our waitress seemed nice but she must have been new because she was kind of terrible. She didn’t even know how to start our grill (turns out you need to add water first so that you don’t start a grease fire, which she wasn’t aware of. Kind of concerning). She would forget a lot of items, we’d have to ask for items multiple times (including basics like water or utensils), and she would constantly bring out incorrect items). Our grate was also never changed (again, probably due to lack of training) until we asked, since some of our meats were starting to taste burnt.
Avoid the cooked menu items. The kimchi fried rice and japchae were terrible. Stick to the meats. My top three dishes were still the Hawaiian steak, honey soy beef belly, and pork cheek. So it’s nice to see that at least the quality of the meats have remained the same. It just seems like they might have a really high turnover rate and waiters don’t receive adequate training, probably due to that fact. Although I enjoyed most of the food, I think this second experience of bad service is enough to not make me want to come back a third time.

Janelle is an absolute ROCKSTAR at Gen Korean BBQ!!! Hands down one of the best servers we’ve ever had. Super friendly, high energy, always on point, and made sure our table was perfect the entire time. Food kept coming, drinks were never empty, and the vibe was A+ because of her. She made the whole experience next level. If Janelle is working, you’re winning — ask for her!!

I’ve always gone to Sikdorak whenever I wanted KBBQ, but this trip to Gen has definitely changed that! I really liked how clean the restaurant was, and I appreciated that the AC was blasting since it can get hot when grilling.
Our server was very attentive, even with how crowded it was. The meat quality was pretty good overall, and my favorite was definitely the kalbi. I usually go for the pork jowl and thin brisket, but this time I thought they were just okay.
The only downside was that the grill didn’t get hot enough, so cooking the meat took longer than I would’ve liked. But overall I really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back.

As of today, March 8, 2026, my group’s overall experience was not good. The 5 of us were seated fast around 11:30am, but we were seated for 2.75 hours (time limit to eat was 2 hours btw). Within that time frame, we only had 2 rounds of food. Service was really slow and the restaurant had some tables occupied but it was not busy enough to have this kind of service and there were a decent amount of tables still empty. Other tables of people arrived after we got seated and left before we did. The stove’s setting seemed to be set on low/medium as our food took way too long to cook. We didn’t get any of our drinks/waters until we were midway into eating our 1st round. Due to the slow service, we had to wait so long to order our 2nd round of food and for it to arrive at our table very late (which was almost 2 hours into our time limit). When we ordered our 2nd round, we waited 15-20 minutes before we asked our server to check on it. Another 10-15 minutes has gone by and we still didn’t get our food, so we asked the server again to check on it. Then our server said they are still prepping it and it finally arrived 10 minutes later. It should not take 45 minutes (give or take) for our 2nd round of food (5 dishes we ordered) to arrive. We’re usually fine with sitting and waiting for our food at any other restaurant because we get to talk for a while, however, this was an all you can eat restaurant with a time limit. The food was good (for what it was) and our server was nice, however, the service was really slow and communication could have been way better. All of us in our group agreed this was the slowest service we had ever received at Gen and in the past we had went to other Gen locations during lunch/dinner times and we never experienced this kind of slow service before. This was not worth $36 per person for only 2 rounds of food within 2.75 hours and slow service. I usually don’t write reviews but I had to for this experience. We will not be coming to this location again. Gen, please have better communication and better/faster service with your guests.

Came in on a saturday night, they had us seated at a table but I wanted a booth and did not mind waiting longer. Unfortunately, there was none UNTIL they started to clean off a booth right in front of me and Janelle realized i was looking at it and offered us to sit there instead without us even asking for a booth again! First impression: 10/10. What server do you know who will do that?! Janelle then ended up being our server too and she is the BESTTT server you could have. Sis was doing laps around the restaurant to get everything for her tables! I give her credit fr. When she passed us and still realized we were waiting on some meats, she went to the back and even ended up bringing it to us herself! Through all the typical Gens busy chaos, that woman never stopped going! HAHAH, ask for Janelle to be your server, i promise you will NOT be disappointed! <3 She made this dining experience even better. Thank you Janelle!

Waited 45 minutes for a table. Server had way too many tables to handle, service was slow, and we did not get half of the dishes we ordered. It also seemed like they only had one register available so we had to wait almost 15 minutes for the check. This was on a Monday.
The meat is ok but some of the dishes taste gross, especially anything “smoked”.
Brought friends from the mainland and they were very disappointed.
I’ve eaten here about 6 or 7 times now and each time it’s worse. You’re better off going elsewhere.

Janelle was an amazing server! She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Our drinks stayed full, our food came out right, and she had such a great attitude. She really made the experience enjoyable. Would love to have her as our server again!
