OMG!! They have the best breakfast and it was so good! This was me and my husband first time at Doug’s and we just love Diner meals. We were greeted with a warm welcome with no wait time and immediately felt comfortable. My husband ordered the Hash breakfast and it was the REAL deal, nothing like the stuff out of a can. I ordered the French toast combo and no doubt, it was the best I’ve had in a long from anywhere else, it’s sssooo good! Our server, she was so friendly, patience, understanding with me as a hearing impaired patron, that she took the time to communicates with me clearly. If you are looking for a friendly diner that serves great breakfast with no long wait time, Doug’s Breakfast Lunch is THE place to go. We definitely will be going back.

The menu had names that made it a little hard to decipher what you were ordering at times. The Sassy was a ton of food and delicious but greasy and messy. The biscuits and gravy were disliked by the 3 of us who tried them. The breakfast burrito with the same gravy on it, however, was enjoyed by the person who ordered it and is also a quite large portion.

My family has lived here since I was born (32+years) and we finally ate here together.
Overall it was OK.
When we walked in, there were four waitresses standing around talking. One waiter (who looked like he had his hands full) went behind the counter, finished what he was doing then proceeded to help us. Just a little weird.
Sitting down and looking around at the place… I know it’s a little older… however everything needs to be cleaned and wiped down. Everything was sticky. Everything was covered in dust, finger prints, spit. It was really disgusting. Just makes me think about how clean everything else is. The decor feels like a trailer trash Cracker Barrel… someone’s caricature on the wall staring at us.. had the radio playing and all we could hear was ADS… like what??
if you’re down for a weird time then I guess it was ok.

The servers don’t wear their hair up, the menus handed to me had crusties on them, servers look trashy, and the restaurant was empty at 10:00 in the morning.
This restaurant definitely has gone downhill. Don’t waste your time or money.
Wade’s diner is right down the road and this place is packed.

For the past two years, I’ve made it a mission to try new local breakfast spots I haven’t visited yet. Doug’s Breakfast Lunch has been around awhile, and the reviews were strong enough to finally get me through the door. I can’t say it’s a “must-visit” for out-of-towners, but I can absolutely see locals appreciating it.

My neighbors’ plates looked fantastic — the Huevos Rancheros and the Cowboy breakfast were both visually mouthwatering. I should’ve followed their lead. Instead, I ordered oatmeal with biscuits and coffee.

For context: I don’t order oatmeal for health reasons — I order it because I genuinely love oatmeal. A good bowl should be hearty, creamy, and comforting. Even Chef Sam Stephens would agree. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the place to get it. Mine was so soupy I half-joked about needing a straw. (And honestly, it almost worked.) The flavor was good, but the texture was off. A longer simmer and perhaps the addition of nut butter or yogurt could easily transform it into a richer, creamier bowl.

The biscuits, however, were the highlight. Not the tall, flaky kind, but more of a medium Southern-style biscuit — denser than a fluffy biscuit, softer than a scone, with lightly crisped edges and a buttery flavor. I didn’t need jelly, butter, or gravy. They stood on their own.

Service was mixed. My server had a no-nonsense, straight-faced morning energy that I initially took as tiredness or maybe not feeling well. She was also the only person handling the floor, so coffee refills were slow, especially after I paid (I like paying upfront so I can eat in peace). Still, she was polite and accommodating despite being clearly stretched thin. A second server would’ve made a noticeable difference.

As for whether I’d bring out-of-town guests here: probably not. Doug’s doesn’t project a uniquely “Colorado Springs” vibe. It feels more like the kind of breakfast spot locals appreciate — cozy, familiar, and humble, with that small-town American breakfast identity that fits right into the neighborhood.

Overall: solid biscuits, friendly-but-stretched service, and classic local-spot charm. I’d give it another try — just not for the oatmeal next time.

Big portions but tasty! Sweet toast is reccomended. Good Coffee as well. Dinner style seating. Jams and jellies that are given may be peculiar but are sooo tasty.

Tried Doug’s for the first time today. Pretty much what I expected, huge portions, good service and diner level seating and volume. Staff was friendly, attentive and prompt. Overall food was good, the green chili was the right amount of spice. I got the bacon breakfast burrito and enjoyed the bacon was crisp crumbles rather than full pieces. I did use up all my green chili in half of the burrito though and could’ve used double the portion of that. Country gravy wasn’t my favorite tasted like it was missing the good base flavor but the biscuits were fluffy. Extra surcharge because of the cost of eggs right now which is totally understandable.

Me and the wife are kicking ourselves for not trying this place sooner. It’ll be a regular spot for us now. I came for the Blackbetty Burger. It has peanut butter, blackberry jam, and green chilis. I know it sounds odd, but it’s killer. I’ll add bacon next time. The good quality of the meat is very noticeable. My wife ordered Sharon’s omelette, which has every vegetable they have lol. She loved it! The butter browns are the best freaking hash browns we’ve ever had. I finished the omelette for her so she could dig into her massive blueberry pancake. She said the second best pancake ever, behind a pineapple upside down pancake at a tiny airport restaurant in Texas. I was too busy enjoying her omelette to try. Also, to the person with the one star review complaining about raw veggies. If you want mush, you’d be waiting a long time. They’re SUPPOSED to have texture. Bring a blender next time. The entire meal was absolutely phenomenal. I can’t believe we’ve lived right by it for three years.
EDIT 01/29/2025: Got the Big Pig Omelette today. Best omelette I’ve ever had. The red and green chili are on point. Doug’s just knocked Uncle Sam’s off my #1 spot. Doug’s is officially my favorite breakfast in El Paso County.
