We ended up being sat in the “bull pen” with two other larger parties.
Our server was an older woman who seemed obviously frazzled from the beginning. She was alone in our section of the restaurant and OBVIOUSLY needed help…another party was clearing their own table and putting their dirty dishes in an empty table nearby.
She rushed through our drink order and barely paid attention to what we were saying. She then took our salad orders and we pretty much didn’t see her again through most of the meal. The entire table sat for approx 30 minutes with no drink refills. Two members of our party ordered the endless salads, one with steak and one with chicken. They were given side salads and told their proteins were “made to order” and would be out later. The entire table finished their starter (side) salads and then we all waited for 20+ minutes for our food.
The food was dropped by two younger gentlemen, and this is when the chicken and steak were brought for the salads. No one at the table had any salad left at this point, and the two who ordered the endless salads never got any more… and had to just eat their chicken/steak off of a side plate….just a sad little cut up piece of meat.
One of the steaks ordered was rare, and the other was BLUE RARE. We tried to explain, but the server again BARELY paid us any mind and just left the table. The rare steak came out medium and the BLUE RARE steak came out medium-rare. The OVERCOOKED blue rare steak (and the accompanying baked potato) were taken away. After at least another ten minutes, another VERY OVERCOOKED steak was brought out on a side plate.
At the same time the second IMPROPERLY COOKED steak was being set on the table, our server was shoving my check under my elbow. MY WIFE HADN’T EVEN GOTTEN HER FOOD YET AND WE WERE BEING HANDED OUR CHECK!!!! At this point, and young man brought out another potato on a side plate, but my wife had given up hope at this point and just sent all of her food back…resigned to leave having eaten only a side salad for her meal this evening.
The server returned with our check again; never apologizing for the overcooked steak; never asking my wife is she would like anything else to eat.
The two ladies that ordered the endless salads were CHARGED for the endless salads, but ONLY received ONE SMALL SIDE SALAD.
When paying our check, we brought up the issues, and the young lady at the register couldn’t care less. The server said “well, I took your sirloin off”.
My wife and I both worked in the restaurant industry for 20+ years…10 of those years, I was a manager and general manager. I would NEVER let ANY guest leave without a personal visit and SINCERE APOLOGY from me, and i would do everything in my power and ask the guest what I could do to make it right. We had to ask for a manger, and (again) there was a general lack of concern.
