There is signage in the restaurant that shows that an all you can eat option is available but you have to ask to get it enabled at your table. As you order from the QR code from your table. The app will tell you how much time you have left and when you can place your next order.
The menu is quite large; they have the usual chicken offerings and some beef and pork offerings. For vegetables there’s mushroom, okra and peppers. What’s nice is they also offer ramen, udon, soba, gyudon, and katsu curry.
We started off with the daikon salad. It was fine as is. I thought the salad was quite bitter. I think slightly pickling or incorporating the dressing more would have helped combat the bitterness. I’m not sure if that is how it is usually served or if just happened to be our serving.
For the skewered dishes you have a choice for sauced or salted versions and they’re both good. Order your sauces of preference within the first ordering batch so it can make it with your meal.
I couldn’t tell if the meat was cooked on coal or gas when I looked at the grill, but I did think some of the meat could have stayed on a little longer brown a little more and to carmelize with the sauce more to add extra flavor.
We were unsure of how many items to order and the quickness of them coming out. We ordered a few skewer per person and did not feel like we had to wait a long time. Our table had mostly water it would have been nice to have a pitcher at our table. The staff was limited and we tried not to bother them as much as we knew they were servicing the whole restaurant.
We will likely come back again the next time we visit the relatives. We thought it was a nice treat.
Love the grilled unagi. Good quality and good sauce. Like the udon but after a long day of flight, I only wanted the hot broth!
Love the sake and the flight.
The bartender seems to assume I know nothing about Sake … he presented it wrong and when asked … his answers were also wrong! Nice kid thought!
I also tried the Sake flight and was very satisfied. It was so good, I felt like I could actually fly! ✈️
The service felt impersonal and disconnected. Everything had to be ordered through an app, even small requests like wasabi, which made it frustrating to communicate with staff. Our servers only came by when dropping off food, never checked on us, and didn’t offer drink refills or to-go boxes unless we asked. On top of that, whenever we had a question, we were often cut off mid-sentence with, “You have to go through the app,” before we could even finish speaking. It was hard not to notice that other tables received more friendly and conversational service, which made the lack of attention at ours stand out even more.
The one redeeming factor was the atmosphere. The interior design and overall aesthetic were beautiful—it genuinely felt like being in Japan—and the background music was at a perfect volume. It’s a shame the service and food didn’t match the inviting environment.
Manzoku Izakaya has a lovely ambiance but falls short where it matters most: food and service. While I understand that using an app can help streamline orders in a busy setting, it shouldn’t come at the expense of genuine hospitality or attentiveness. And before anyone asks whether I brought up the issues that night with management—I didn’t. It was late, we’d had a long day, and after such a disappointing experience, we honestly just wanted to leave, pay, and go home.
