THE guacamole although very tasty was not the best I’ve had..

After being here a few times it’s time for a review. I underestimated this place. The food is way better than I expected especially since they are continuing to experiment and try new flavors. I was just served the most amazing wings with custom hot sauce. It was incredible. Perfect flavor and spicy level. That being said every time I’ve been here the food has been good and the service at the bar especially has been exceptional. It’s truly an underrated place in midtown for quality service and very tasty food.

I went to the midtown Mad Dog for a girls night dinner recently and was kind of disappointed. I remember going to the other location in downtown and having an amazing time, especially the food, drinks and the vibe! This location didn’t quite measure up.

The spicy guacamole lacked real heat and was more mild. The shrimp tacos were just okayish—it missed that fresh, vibrant flavor I was hoping for.

We ordered a guava margarita pitcher and it was a letdown as well! Tasted more like a syrupy cocktail mix than a refreshing drink.

What did stand out for me though was the friendly and attentive host. She made the experience more pleasant for us.

While nothing was particularly bad, but nothing really impressed us either. It’s a good spot for a casual meal, but it doesn’t deliver the same quality or flavors as the other location.

This was the best enchilada I’ve ever had! It was perfect. The margarita was absolutely perfect- saying this as a fellow bartender. It was frothy and not too sweet. Our bartender (1/7/2026 @ 1pm) was amazing. So pleased!!!!

Good atmosphere, but service wasn’t great. The “single” guacamole was HUGE! The chicken enchiladas and chicken burrito were tasty, but the burrito had mostly rice to make it so full. Cola refills not free, but that’s pretty normal in NYC.

Visiting NYC from Texas and was excited to try the food since everyone raves about it. My bf and I decided on Mad Dog since we assumed that we couldn’t go wrong with Mexican. Or so I thought.

The kitchen closed at 8, we got there at 7:45 pm. We ordered pico de gallo with chips and chicken tacos. The pico was bland and nothing special. The chips were warm and crispy so that was a plus but the chicken tacos tasted like a can of chopped chicken (cold) was poured on a corn tortilla, covered with pico and some shreds of iceberg lettuce and sent out.

The beans also tasted like they were scooped out of a can and then a bagged microwaveable rice was thrown on top.

I couldn’t eat it. My bf was so hungry he did, but regretted it 2 min later. If I had to compare the taste, I would imagine my dogs fresh pet is pretty similar. Sorely disappointed

Great spot. Good vibes. Ordered a quesadilla which was really good and fresh. Had tortilla chips that came with three sauces. The coconut margaritas were really good. Gave me a nice buzz. I do think they were over priced. They were served in a small glass at 16 a piece with the flavor included… 28 per plus 4 for coconut flavor… I thought that was crazy. Other than this nice spot.

Very good frozen margaritas. Food was a little overpriced. Portions were okay. There are also good non-alcoholic beer options.

The sign on 5th Ave caught me to go there. The best guacamole and margaritas. Effectively it was 100% true.
Loved the freshly just smashed guacamole, generous portion and crispy chips .
Staff was very kind from manager to servers. 100% recommend. I asked for fajitas and they were so tasty. My wife and I had great experience in this place.

The service was friendly and attentive, creating a warm atmosphere. I did not catch a name of our waiter, but he was amazingg!!! If he will read this, 4 people sitting at a corner of an entrance from dental office, you know who you are!! Amazing service.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great meal!
