Atmospheric eatery & museum teaming a traditional American menu with a host of sports memorabilia.

The memorabilia is cool to look at and full of history. We were greeted warmly and quickly seated. The food left alot more to be desired unfortunately. The soup of the day, a tomato bisque, was textured and tasted odd. The appetizers were absolutely doused in dried food glitter (aka parsley) in an attempt to dress them up to look pretty, but it just added a dry flavorless crunch where it wasn’t necessary. There was so much on my sauce for my potstickers I had to scoop it out just to dip them. The appetizers tasted good, but they were simply ready made frozen apps that had been fried. The entree I ordered was the London broil, and it was cooked well, and was flavorful, but it was ice cold when it got to me. The mashed potatoes were good, but were practically rendered inedible by the brown gravy that was swimming in worcestershire sauce. The vegetable of the day was sautéed spinach and it was devoid of flavor and deprived of even basic salt. It tasted like just bitter greens, and mine had a hair in it. The server promptly took it away and even have me a coupon for a free appetizer, though I dont know if I will return to use it… The carrot cake was delicious, just a bit too cold, but still tasty. The service was great, museum was cool, but the food was very underwhelming.

I have lived in KC for over two decades, and I cannot believe I’ve never been to Chappell’s before. I’m not a sports fan so I was there just for the food, but there is so much to look at and read about if you do love sports.
Onto the food… omg. I got what is essentially a French dip, and it was so tender and flavorful. My husband got the Cajun chicken sandwich, and it was the juiciest chicken I’ve ever seen. It was seasoned really well, it had a great kick, I could taste the peppers.
We also got way more fries than expected. My husband joked that they must’ve fried up an entire bag for each of us; we couldn’t finish them.
We also got the fried pickle appetizer. They were battered well and were flavorful. The ranch that accompanied it didn’t taste like what I get from the store, so they might make it? I’m not sure.
Not shown: I also got the soup of the day, which was French onion. It was okay. I do believe it was made fresh and not from a can. I could taste the wine, and I believe they used sweet onions, which aren’t my favorite. Overall, a decent soup to warm you up that is tasty enough, but it’s not the best by a long shot.
My overall verdict is that I loved our main dishes so much that I’m excited to stop in again soon to try more of the menu.

First, the food: Their burgers are delicious! You can get them with a normal bun, or a French muffin bun, which is actually pretty good. I also partook in the Chefs special of the day which happened to be a burrito, which I am a big fan of. It doesn’t taste Mexican tho, delicious in its own right, just not Mexican. Speaking of specials, they have one for every day, which just decreases the price of said item. Good deals.
Second, the Service: The servers are very kind and wholesome, not to mention Shannon, who seems to have the memory of an elephant, that is to say, very good. She takes orders without needing to right them down! Absolutely insane. Maybe I just have a very poor memory…
Third, the atmosphere: One of the most impressive aspects of this place, is the amount of sports memorabilia they have, goodness gracious there is a lot. It’s also a big place, so that just adds to it. Very cool place regardless of the memorabilia, almost reminds me of a lodge on the inside. When its cold they have a fire going. So comfy.

We stopped in for lunch. Late afternoon around 3 and we were seated and served promptly. A few locals eating at the bar. We ordered a tenderloin sandwich with onion rings, a side salad, and curly fries. If you’re a sports fan you will enjoy the memorabilia.

Service was top notch. We asked about the happy hour apps a few minutes before 3 and were able to get the potato skins. They were very good more like a twice baked potato than the traditional potato skins. My husband had the burger that’s topped with the sloppy Joe. He said it was really good. I had the club sandwich. Again very good. The kids pizza was good sized. Clean restrooms. On street parking.Tons of sports memorabilia.

Been a while since we had lunch here, but we we driving through NKC today, we stopped
Food was great and the service was fast
One of the best things was when I ordered fish and chips, the waitress asked if I wanted malt vinegar
No waitress has asked they question. I always have to ask for it myself

This is a great place all the time but for restaurant week you get a ton of food for the price! Even though it was a busy Friday night, we were waited on promptly and the food was hot! Food was a little salty but good nonetheless.

Overall, it was just an alright experience.
The memorabilia was cool and the service wad excellent.
However, the food was pretty flavorless altogether. We got some nachos, Mac and cheese with fried chicken, a santa fe wrap, and cheese quesadilla.
The Mac and cheese was good, but the fried chicken was chewy and flavorless.
The santa fe and nachos were pretty lacking as well.
The cheese quesadilla was solid.
All in all, I was a little disappointed with the experience. It would be a great place for a drink and to see some sports memorabilia, but the food was just lacking for me.
Again, the service was excellent as well.

If you’re talking atmosphere this place is a 10… but I’m judging this on food also! I got the tenderloin. It’s 100% pre-frozen & the sweet potato fries were undercooked. I was hungry… but the only thing satisfying was seeing the memorabilia! Our waitress wasn’t that great either! Overall, I’ll return to just look around.. but not to eat here again!

This place was cool. I totally dug the decor and vibe. They do online ordering, dine in, and to go orders. Place wasn’t busy when I went in. The sandwich was huge and tasty. The fries were good but nothing to rave about. The carrot cake was delicious. Ordering online was super easy and had tons of options. Staff was friendly and helpful
