My wife wanted to show me some of the highlights of Fisherman’s Wharf as she remembered them, but sadly, many of the experiences that she recalled simply weren’t present anymore. Maybe they were a casualty of COVID, or a bad economy, or because we were there on a Monday? Regardless, she was determined to grab some fresh seafood from one of the purveyors near the pier, and selected Nick’s Lighthouse as our destination.
We were seated at a well-worn booth in the back of this modest restaurant with its dive-bar interior aesthetic. She ordered a crab cocktail and a Corona (with lime, of course!), while I went with the fish and chips, to share with our toddler son.
Service was quick, but not particularly attentive. Our food, when it arrived, was a bit polarizing: while my wife absolutely loved her heaping helping of crab meat, lemon and cocktail sauce, my fish and chips were just plain awful. There was a very strange, unpleasant, almost perfume-y undertone with every bite, likely something added to the breading; whatever it was, it was rather off-putting. My wife said it tasted moldy; while I didn’t get that particular flavor, the sensation of eating fried in Calvin Klein was too much for me; I didn’t finish it.
More than likely, there was just something in the batter that I didn’t personally appreciate. The fish itself was fine; not the best, not the worst. Portion size here is great for the price, though. And had I selected a different entrée, I’m sure I would have far more favorable things to say. As it stands, I hesitate to recommend Nick’s Lighthouse, even though my wife’s experience was much better than my own. But hey, avoid the fish and chips, and you’ll probably be just fine.

Simple but good restaurant on Fishermans Wharf. Terrace and inside tables. Simple but good menu. Friendly staff. Live music on other side of the street.
We tried the fish and chips and the shrimps and chips, both were tasty.
Would fully recommend eating at this restaurant.

Food is worth trying and tasty. But for refills and other things you need to follow yourself unlike usual restaurants that they just do. So it’s by request. And for atmosphere they need more space it’s okay for me but anyone plus size or even just with backpack may have problems fitting there

Service was good at first, food came out quick and hot. However downhill after that, no check-in to see how the food was and had to flag someone down for refills. Food was ok at best… Good crab cakes but the chowder was nothing to write home about. The real kicker is they charge 4% for paying with a credit card, and as the fine print in the menu indicates (clearly didn’t catch this before ordering) they add 18% gratuity on all checks, which explains the subpar service… Literally over $100 to get lunch for two, definitely would NOT return.

We ordered a variety of dishes, but the only one that was somewhat decent was the tomato seafood soup. The rest of the dishes were disappointing, lacking in flavor and overall quality. The service was average, but our seating arrangement near the front desk was inconvenient, as staff were constantly cleaning dishes and utensils, creating a noisy and disruptive environment. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant.

The service is incredibly slow, and the washroom is absolutely disgusting. The fried calamari has no flavor. I ordered the two-choice items with fries, and the only thing that tasted good was the fried fish. I chose to order here because there were no lines compared to the competitors, but I can’t believe it took so long to get my food—and it was completely tasteless.

I had an amazing experience at this seafood restaurant! The food was incredibly fresh, which made a huge difference in the taste. The fried calamari was perfectly crispy, and the soup was rich and flavorful. But the highlight of the meal was definitely the crab—it was absolutely outstanding! I would highly recommend this place to any seafood lover.
The servers were very friendly and attentive. I can confidently say that this is the best seafood restaurant in the area!
The food has gotten even better since the new owner took over. Don’t worry about any old negative reviews—just go and taste it for yourself!

Good place to grab a sourdough bowl of chowder. Whole crabs and other seafood dishes. Street eating is fun.
No military or veteran discount.

Visited here on Sunday afternoon. I expected to order to go but was instantly lead inside to boot seating. Server was polite and quick. I order lobster roll with fries and deep fried platter. The serving size was hugh on both meals. I also ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio. We also ordered oysters Rockefeller and deep fried prawns. Bill totaled around $171. I enjoyed the meal
