This place is absolutely lovely. We had a wonderful time. Great for date night a girls day out or a business center very versatile, free parking and plenty of it. The tables are situated nicely so that there is a wide open space this wheelchair accessible special needs friendly environment. Our servers name was John. The manager’s name is Patrick absolutely wonderful. Our server was extremely knowledgeable on the entire menu. The drinks were also wonderful and not overbearing. The Bartender’s name is Vanessa. She was super delightful very personable. We had a great time. I highly recommend this location and this restaurant our server was super knowledgeable on the entire menu and made lovely suggestions
So second visit was better then the first talk about the dream team of wait staff John our server from last time came by to say hi (he’s super sweet)
Then we met Elijah & Hawkins two other delightful servers who have great insight on the menu and give their honest and I say honest opinions because as I was tasting the food we ordered this go around their descriptions were full on accurate. I am a bit of a sauce snob I’ll admit it but the meatball if you’re going to order a starter the meatballs hands down are my most favorite!! The sauce is truly genuinely delicious and I never give such a compliment because I make my own and it takes 8 hours but the sauce here was so delicious so flavorful they should seriously think about selling jars to go! Lauren the hostess such a sweet young lady and her co-worker another darling gem Kate just really super sweet, and of course Patrick the manager was also there. Truly one big happy family it seems here at fire & oak so weather it’s a date night, a girls night out, or guys night for some football and beer this is the spot to come to hands down. Worth the travel too they also have private rooms available and a large back room that is just to die for !! You can seriously plan for any occasion here the place is larger on the inside then the outside gives off I have to say… Keep fire & oak in mind for all of your dining out needs you can also order food to go but the true experience is in dining in what a wonderful place to come to. They also have a beautiful desert menu and variety of wines. I rarely go to a place a second time it’s usually one and done but this spot has now made my short list of favorites. You have to come and experience fire & oak of montvale for yourself. It’s worth the travel, there’s plenty of parking and it’s is special needs friendly anyone who reads my reviews knows I’m big on accessibility and accommodations for our special needs community ❤️
The concept of “New American” cuisine made its debut in the 1980s and is believed to be an evolution from the 1960s “nouvelle cuisine.” It marries the farm-to-table movement with a diverse range of ingredients, providing chefs with a canvas for culinary creativity.
Attached to the Courtyard Marriott since 2009 off of Chestnut Ridge Road in Montvale, my partner and I decided on dinner at this establishment. The reservation was easily made via OpenTable.
Upon entering Fire and Oak as first-timers, we were greeted by the host offering patrons four unique experiences in separate and distinct areas of the restaurant. Just to the left of the bar is the elevated Candle Room. With its soaring high ceilings, the Main Dining Room suggests the views of the gleaming open kitchen. Their Upper Balcony Dining Room renders a magnificent view of the main dining room. The private Oak Room is ideal for business presentations or private social gatherings. We were seated immediately in the Candle Room with a dim, warm, inviting, and upscale/cosmopolitan vibe.
Their menu contained an eclectic assortment of high-quality options with steak, fish, chicken, pork, and sushi to meet just about anyone’s palate.
As a starter, we decided on F&O Mac ‘n’ Cheese and Slow Braised Meatballs. As our main entree, we opted for Cabernet Braised Short Rib of Beef and BBQ Pork Ribs served with Coleslaw and substituted Sautéed Spinach instead of Fries.
The flavors were fresh, unique, and simply amazing. However, we were disappointed in the Mac ‘n’ Cheese by using some kind of mozzarella cheese, making it bland, dry, and stringy. The dishes were beautifully prepared. The portion was healthy. The price was comparable to the area and worth every penny.
The staff are well trained and service-oriented. Our server, Hawkins, was prompt, friendly, professional, and engaging. While touring the restaurant, I exchanged a few words with Patrick, the general manager, and he gave me a tip to take a wonderful picture of the amazing wine bottle room.
As the restaurant filled up, it definitely got louder, and we had to talk louder to hear each other.
If the above-mentioned New American menu items have left one’s mouth watering, there’s only one thing to do: visit Fire and Oak, which we can recommend.
Dave was easily one of the best servers we’ve ever had. He was warm, attentive, and incredibly professional. His timing was perfect, he anticipated what we needed, and he made the entire night feel seamless and relaxed. He represents exactly what exceptional service should look like.
Very clean and well maintained bar restaurant, definitely not your typical hotel establishment understanding they are hot affiliated.
Our server Kade was amazing, very professional with a great sense of humor. He suggested the double cut pork chop which was amazing.
Great flavor and meat quality as well as the prime rib my wife enjoyed.
We also enjoyed some delicious peach rose sangria.
Yum to all.
Thanks again and see you soon.

My wife and I recently dined at Fire & Oak. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and mains. I will say that the drinks and appetizers were good and set the bar for the rest of the meal and experience.
When the mains came out, our experience changed. I had ordered one of the pizzas and asked for no cheese due a dairy intolerance. My pizza came out with cheese on it. That’s okay, mistakes happen. But we did not see our server for another 10 minutes or so. By the time they came back to check on us, my wife was more than halfway through her Margherita pizza (which barely had any marinara sauce on it). I changed my order to the ribs since I had seen a few come out to nearby tables while waiting. The ribs arrived quickly. They were tasty, but the Cole slaw was bland. I don’t think this dish was worthy of the $42 price tag.
The next surprise came when we received our check. Not a single thing was comped. Not even a single drink of the 4 we had. No manager came to the table during the meal, no dessert was offered, etc. All things that I might have done when I worked in the restaurant business.
We will not be returning to, nor recommending Fire & Oak in Montvale.
