Excellent local food, great patatas bravas, pork cheeks and octopus and a friendly service plus a nice atmosphere at this little bistro. Highly recommended!

The salad was not a salad, but a crazy size of mayonese cake, it was bad parody for a healthy green salad we expected. The cheese was without any taste, not even grilled. I have waited for 55 minutes for my octopus (after reminded once), which was not correctly cooked, it was half raw. It came only with 4 half pieces of small cooked potatoes and nothing else. The ashtray I asked did not arrived at all. We ordered NON sparkling water, but received sparkling water. Not recommended at all.
UPDATE for the arrogant owner: it is not a new review, i just updated the typos in my original post. Your reaction did not contain any “apologize” or “we will do our best next time” etc. This is more than a warning sign for any of your potential customers in the future.

We had an excellent dinner here, with tuna croquetes and rice with squid and mussles (like paella). House wine was also tasty. Large terrace with nice views and very friendly and fast service, even though we arrived quite late. We totally recommend this place!

Insane how this place is even open. An hour for serving the entire course, VERY SMALL portions, SLOWEST service I ever seen in a restaurant. They took HALF AN HOUR TO SERVE the drinks.

We ordered some fried squid, we never got it, they served it to another table.

And then went to pay and they got the whole order… seven times.
Tried to add more stuff that we had.

Be good to yourselves and eat LITERALLY anywhere else.

We had such amazing service and a great time at La Chalana. The only thing better than the service was the food, we went specifically to each fish and were really impressed by the quality and the preparation. Thanks so much for a great evening!

We came for dinner at 8pm and were the one of two tables the whole time. I must admit they do serve grilled fish and have several non-fried options which the island more generally lacks, which was refreshing. However, the fish was not great and neither were any of the other dishes. Considering the price is on the higher end compared to several other places we tried in town, I would not recommend coming here for food. Their drinks options were good though and the location is nice so perhaps worth it for a drink before having dinner elsewhere

It’s a restaurant with great food. But you do have to wait a bit since there seems to be only one waitress for the whole place. It didn’t bother us. We had such a great meal and lovely evening here.

Overall ok but I would not return, so I’d recommend going only if other options are not available.

WiFi inside didn’t work first and we had to choose very fast what to eat.

My friend ordered a soup which wasn’t really what we were expecting…

The octopus was very oily.

I understand that not everyone speaks English here but I tried my best to practice Spanish with them and they were not very friendly

Food was excellent. Best I’ve eaten in Santa Cruz so far! A quiet spot in a pretty plaza. I was recommended this restaurant for its fish dishes and it certainly didn’t disappoint! Will definitely visit again.
