We shared a lobster roll here on a summer July day a couple of months ago. The lobster was delicious, fresh and tasty. Coleslaw was good too.

This is a very popular lobster shack and as we drove in to the very packed parking lot it was clear other people had the same idea as us. Eating this delicious lobster roll in a truly beautiful setting overlooking the water was a wonderful way to spend some time.

Highly recommend.

McLoons Lobster Shack has a beautiful location right on the harbo. Watching the boats while we ate was definitely a highlight. That said, I wasn’t a big fan of the lobster rolls. They’re served cold, and after trying several warm ones elsewhere, I found the cold meat less enjoyable. The lobster mix included tail pieces that were sometimes chewy and tough to bite through. We also tried dessert and weren’t really fans of it. Overall, the setting was great, but the food didn’t quite live up to expectations.

Shh. Don’t tell anyone how great this place is… we don’t want it over run with crowds!
Certainly a (somewhat) hidden gem.
The food is outstanding: Not just the seafood! We had blueberry bread pudding and blueberry hand pie to finish a great meal of lobster roll, full lobster, grilled clams and coleslaw. We were there the day before they closed for the season and it was crowded. Not unbearably, but definitely had to stand in line and wait for a seat by the water.
And, it was worth it. There is a tent for inclement weather and ample seating. They even had a campfire with complimentary fixings for s’more!
PS
There’s a hand-washing station near the Port-a-potty!!

We were here just as they were opening a bit on the off season. 70 degrees and sunny made for an incredible experience. Grilled clams, lobster rolls, clam chowder, chips, Maine Root ginger beer this place was on point. Everyone was friendly, the location could not be better. They fish the lobsters out of the water as needed. Grilled clams were the best clams I’ve ever had. The lobster roll was also the best I’ve ever had, the clam chowder was good, but that’s easy right? I imagine that in season this place is a mad house, we had a quiet, peaceful, visit, sitting at a picnic table right next to the water. It was idyllic. You must go.

I always miss this lobster shack spot because they close super early for the season but not this year. I came right by open time and they already have a long line. Very limited parking spot recommended to come early.
The lobster roll is superb. Grill clams are a must. Lobster stew is fantastic. Moreover, the scenery is spectacular. We spot a lady walk to get fresh lobster from lobster pots. Very cool experience.

One of the best lobster rolls I’ve had. Atmosphere is homey, definitely feels like a local spot. I bet it’s a cool spot with fire pits after dark. Don’t come for anything but food here. Also ice cream was blasting good!!!

Just spent a week in Maine and ate a lot of lobster rolls (including at some very well known places.) McLoons was the absolute BEST and it wasn’t close. Plus the service and atmosphere were outstanding. Just the most perfect place to eat a great lobster roll and watch the sunset. They had the fire pits going with sticks and marshmallows, and we got to watch a lobster unloading their catch right next door. Just the most perfect Maine experience. If you fly into Portland and are heading to Camden or Acadia, I highly recommend you make McLoons your first stop in Maine!

I went out of my way to visit this place while in Maine. I heard good things about it before planning my trip. I went with a lobster roll (w butter) and a crab roll. The lobster was pretty good, definitely fresh, and had large chunks.. 7/10 for me. The crab was super fresh and as good quality as I’ve ever had. The bread was good and complimentary for both rolls, and they come with chips, slaw, and a pickle. They have a solid menu of other fresh/local seafood items and desserts. I arrived right around opening on a week day, and there was a decent line/crowd already. The line moved quickly and food came out lightning fast.. like within 2 minutes of ordering! I was eating within 10 minutes of arriving. They have covered and uncovered seating, a firepit outside, heaters inside, and umbrellas over tables for a rainy day. Service was excellent and they really took care of us out in the elements to make sure we were comfy/dry! The atmosphere seems fitting for good lobster rolls right by the water with all the boats in sight!

Such a fun place, perfect atmosphere! Right on the water with picnic tables, adirondack chairs, and firepits available as seating areas. We had clam chowder and lobster rolls and both were exactly what we wanted for our Maine experience!
Totally worth the extra drive off the main roads, so much fun!

While making my way from Boston up to Acadia National Park, I decided to stop at McLoons lobster shack on a rainy Sunday afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed how off the beaten path this lobster shack is; imagine going to the end of the map where land meets sea and that’s where you will find this place.

Despite the weather, it was still surprisingly pretty busy at the lobster shack. I placed my order for a bowl of clam chowder and a lobster roll with hot butter.

I greatly appreciated that they had a tent with covered seating so that I could enjoy my meal there. I can imagine when the weather is nice that this spot has spectacular views of the water.

The service was extremely fast and friendly, and the food was delicious. The prices were fair for the portions and I can see why it has such rave reviews.

I’m sure in the summertime when the weather is nice parking can be a nightmare, but I managed to snag one of the few spots because it was the off-season.
