Silk City Coffee is an independently owned specialty coffee shop in the center of Main Street, Manchester. We offer fresh-brewed coffee, espresso drinks and tea along with pastries, salads, sandwiches and more all made fresh in-shop. We also operate a roastery providing both wholesale and retail coffee beans for home brewing.

The vibes are just immaculate. It is easily one of the coziest coffee shops I have visited in a long time. The interior feels incredibly warm and inviting, making it the perfect escape from a busy day. It has that genuine community coffee shop feel that is sometimes hard to find.
I ordered a flash-brew coffee and it was solid (and only $3.50!), but the atmosphere is really what sells this place for me. I kept thinking that I would absolutely study here if I was in the area or needed a remote office for the day. The seating is comfortable and the environment is just right for focusing. It is quiet enough to think but has a nice hum of activity that keeps you alert.
The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming as well, which always makes a big difference. They got my order out quickly too.

I really love the products here. They have an important mission too. The food is really tasty. I cook a lot so if I eat out I want it to be different than my norm but very tasty and the food here is! Baked goods here are great! They taste like real food, not factory baked goods. My main disappointment here is the cost of the drinks. Today I ordered a peppermint white mocha latte with oat milk. It was exactly what I wanted- cozy and delicious! But it was served in a 12 oz cup and cost over $8. I personally think this is too much to ask. Because of this, I cannot frequent SCC but will only treat myself occasionally prioritizing the needs of my large family. However, it’s worth noting I’ve brought my 14, 13, and 10 yr olds here a couple times for special birthday coffee/treat dates and they loved the food and drinks here too!

I visited Silk City Coffee in Manchester, CT, on a very rainy day, and stepping inside felt like a warm embrace. The space is inviting, with plenty of seating for those working remotely, as well as cozy couches in the back—perfect for meeting up with a friend, reading a book, or simply enjoying a slow morning. There’s a real sense of community here, and it shows.
As for the treats:
Gluten-Free Vegan Blackberry Lime Donut – I don’t know how they made this gluten-free and vegan and still so delicious, but they did! Tart, sweet, and perfectly soft.
Orange Ricotta Cake – Soft and moist with a lovely orange flavor. The frosting on top was the perfect complement.
Funfetti Cookie – Soft, chewy, and just the right amount of sweetness. A fun, nostalgic treat.
Regular Latte – Beautiful latte art and a bold coffee flavor.
Bouquet Latte – Topped with delicate flowers, this latte was not only beautiful but also had a wonderful floral flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. If you like flavored coffee, this is a must-try!

Great service, the espresso was maybe a tad under, but I’m not overly familiar with their beans, so that may be how it’s intended. It was still delicious. The staff are all so pleasant and obviously talented!

Saw this on a list of best coffee in CT so I stopped in on my way to Boston. I loved the vanilla latte, but the sandwich truly blew me away. I ordered a chipotle breakfast sandwich and it was unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. I loved the bread-it almost melted off the sandwich in the best way. The sandwich was well constructed and flavor profile was simply perfect, the cheese keeping the bacon well in tact. I also ordered a raspberry oatmeal bar and blueberry coffee cake at the suggestion of staff, which were great as well. They had a large selection of gluten free baked goods. The cafe is so cute and has tables inside and outside as well as a few couches inside. I’ll definitely be back!

definitely lives up to the reputation! coffee is brewed super well, and there is some variety and seasonal specials that keep things interesting. the food is great, and they have a menu with a few items for breakfast and a few for lunch. the pastries are also really good, and they make sure to label everything according to dietary needs (vegan, gf, etc). the place is ample and lots of seating available.

Super chill vibe with solid espresso and good natural light if you’re camping out with a laptop. The pastries rotate and are usually fresh, though seating can get tight on weekend mornings. Staff is friendly and actually remembers regulars, which is rare.

The goat cheese sausage egg and spinach sandwich was delish too.
We wish coffee shops back home on Long Island could execute this caliber of quality taste and atmosphere.

A Gem in downtown “Silk City” Manchester, CT, Silk City Coffee is the place people go to meet, chat, or have a quiet cup of coffee and a scone before work or on a lazy weekend. Coffee and baked goods are all top-notch at this Gerhard family owned business. Their success from delivering excellence in food and atmosphere with a smile speaks for itself as they opened another store in Willimantic, also on Main Street. I can’t wait to review that store!
