Reviews
The food is refined Thai cuisine – not heavy, not oily, and very well balanced.
You can really taste the layers of spices and herbs.
Our favourites were:
✅Tom Kha Pla (hot and sour coconut fish soup) – clean, light and very aromatic
✅Roy Thai assorted dumplings – fun to try different bites in one plate
✅Khao Soi dry curry noodles with scallops – great texture and Northern Thai style
✅Mango sticky rice – beautifully presented and not too sweet
The restaurant is small and cozy, so I highly recommend making a reservation.
Very suitable for dates or a relaxed dinner with friends.
A great Winterlicious choice if you enjoy elegant and modern Thai food.
Had a lovely experience at Kiin.
The hot and sour coconut soup had complex and delicate flavours blended together.
The assorted dumplings were alright – but beautifully presented.
Noodles with coconut curry were good, but scallops tasted a little fishier than I’m used to.
Short rib and roti were incredible. Tender meat and super flaky roti.
The steamed pandan coconut cream dessert was the perfect balance of textures and richness without being overly sweet.
I was surprised by the mango sticky rice – the rice wasn’t that sticky?
Drinks were not bad.
We both had different three course meals and they were all delicious, the waiting staff allocated to us (can’t remember name), did an exceptionally amazing job telling us about the meal every-time she served us, and really made us feel comfortable.
The other waiters pulled their weight by always looking out for us, refilling our cup everytime it was below a certain limit, and their attention to detail was mind blowing.
It’s one place I really recommend and can’t wait to visit again.
(Im missing one or two pics but…)
Every dish was great and harmonized well. The flavours were refined and smooth to the palate. I would eat 10 of those dumplings if I could. Kudos to the beef being so tender for the third pic. However, besides the first 3 dishes, the rest wasn’t giving that same wow factor for a perfect 5 stars. This is a small detail only comparing to other Michelin restaurants I’ve dined in. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the experience and it was amazing food.
Comparing to other Michelin stars, I would rate this 4.65/5. This is still better than other asian Michelin restaurants in Toronto.
Context: My partner and I went to Kiin for a special occasion and both did a tasting menu each at the Chef’s Table. This is a two seater spot where you get to see the open style kitchen prep all the food. As someone with 5+ years experience in the hospitality industry, you know the experience is going to be great when you can see and hear how respectful, efficient, and professional the back and front of house are to each other.
My partner did the did the regular tasting menu and I did the vegan one. We had previously gone to 4 other tasting menus in Toronto. Comparatively, we ranked Kiin’s tasting menu 1st due to their presentation, food, service, and drinks. We made sure to get pictures of each course this time as we had a feeling walking in that it was going to be something special – we were right.
Our server, Arthur B, heightened our experience. His calm and knowledgeable demeanor helped us enjoy each course and pay attention to the ingredients in each dish.
I will gladly be back and I highly recommend Kiin to anyone looking for something special or just a night out.
Thank you, Chef Nuit!
Service was warm and very attentive throughout the evening. When one main (the duck) wasn’t to my taste, the team handled it graciously and offered an alternative, and the cozy, thoughtfully designed space made it a pleasant place to spend the night.
