The $5 plates we had – frites (french, or should I say Belgian, fries), grilled ham & cheese, and loaded stoemp (a fried mashed potato ball type thing? Idk but it was good, but heavy) – were all tasty, especially for the price.
They have some card games, but honestly they all looked kinda wack. So we went old school and played Battleship. If you like playing games at a brewery/diner you might wanna bring your own, or to the management: get some better games.
We ended up with a $20 bill for a beer and 3 plates of food. Service was good, and the tavern has an interesting design to it. Definitely a unique place. Would love to return and try the Belgian brunch menus or other more authentic stuff. Oh well, next time.
But our waitress was very nice and explained the situation. Not many places deserve a 4.8 rating but I think it is well deserved. The atmosphere is cool. The food was awesome and all the staff were polite and accommodating.
If I had to be extra picky I would say that the burger was a little small, coleslaw was bland, the appetizer (similar to hushpuppies) tasted a little bland too, and there was a fly that would not leave our table alone and when we complain to the server she seemed to just kind of brush it off and not try to help but what can you really do about a fly right? And my family loved their food. Nothing to complain about genuinely, just a few mild irritations. It also got kind of loud at times but it’s a tavern, that’s going to happen and for most of the visit it was moderate to even mild. Much quieter than the Paisley Pig, I can say that for certainty.
Our server confirmed any dietary restrictions and allegies twice (great job!!) and I really thought that the flags were nice and the drinks paired with the different entrees were creative. I don’t drink alcohol myself so it would be cool to see something paired for a 420 audience or something but other than that I had an amazingly spectacular time and I also really enjoyed the booth. Very spacious and the walls were decorated with lots of cool stuff for my children to check out. Fireplace was also beautiful.
Thanks for the wonderful inclusive eatery Gary and crew!
