At our Crestview, FL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Fast-food chain serving fried fish & shrimp combo meals along with gumbo & funnel cakes.

The service was quick and friendly. Even the cook greeted me so I’m not sure why he gave me the size fish he did. That’s why it’s not 5 star service. I ordered the 3pc fish and the largest one was not even an inch and a half wide. Not sure if that’s the new normal size but if so I will definitely not be back to waste $15.00 on 3 pieces of fish a 3yr old could eat and want more. The flavor was good but the size definitely was not.

Oh my God where to start okay I got dinner last night and it was late but my loaded baked potato. I could literally pick the cheese and bacon bits in one soggy glob up and out of the overly starchy way overcooked potatoes!
Today still being in the hospital. I had my husband go by there for lunch at 11:00 in the morning to get the same thing lo and behold. I’m going to take a picture of this overly cooked globby goofy supposedly healthy baked potato or semi-healthy. It’s a mess

Normally, we love Capt. D’s but this time it was a little sketchy. The fish was really shiny and didn’t seem cooked all the way. They made my husband his again but it came out the same way so I don’t know. Other that it was just ok. It could use a update or two.

The food was good the hush puppies were some of the best I’ve ever had….the fish was fried well and the okra was delicious. The only thing I have a complaint about is the lady who served us said she couldn’t give a military discount because her boss wasn’t there and he was the only one who could do it which I didn’t understand. It was a good place.

The drive-through worker Tammie was very intoxicated sounding. We couldn’t understand her and she got the order wrong multiple times then proceeded to read back the correct order and still gave us the wrong food and we were given the wrong drink multiple times. Honestly, overall just horrible service.

I keep hoping one day that the food will get better but it keeps always being one bad experience after another from here. It feels like it’s a 2 person run restaurant. One lady in the front working walkins and the drive thru with one person in the back cooking. I walked in to order to go cause I had bad service through the drive thru before. The lady in front was nice until she kept yelling at her young children that were sitting in the eating area while she was working. Then she put a drive thru person on hold and took 2 orders of people that walked in. I was still waiting for my food. Out of the seafood platter only the fish was okay with the rest of the food being bad. No idea what’s up with the sides. Broccoli was chewy and green beans was nasty with some weird flavor.

It was our first time visiting this establishment and we were mildly surprised. The signage out front could use a fresh paint job, however it did not take away from the pleasant and clean interior. The young lady at the counter (Arteona sp; ) was very helpful and courteous. The general manager Brian Edwards should be commended for selecting such a fine employee.

I haven’t had Captain D’S in year and wanted to give them a try. I must say I’m very disappointed in the taste and smell of my catfish. It smelled and taste very fishy and I couldn’t eat it. Im very sad because I was looking forward to have great catfish. My family had chicken tenders and enjoyed them so I’m giving it a 3. I think this is the last time I’ll try them.

Had lunch here and Aretanna served us with the southern hospitality that’s slowly disappearing elsewhere in Florida. She gave us great food fast with a smile. Thanks Aretanna for a great lunch and a friendly visit. Stop in the next time you’re in Crestview FL. and let Aretanna sell you 5 extra shrimp for$1.99 with a smile and enjoy a seafood meal that you know you want!!!

Service is very fast even though some obviously were trainees for this restaurant.
Captain D’s has changed their menu a bit to add grilled fish items, while also keeping fried options.
The Grilled Salmon was prepped with lemon butter and just the correct amount of seasoning.
Note the site is small, so at times can be difficult to find open seating.
