We ordered the Combo B for two, and I believe that it’s a fantastic deal considering what we got. The Thai Tea and Lemonade were incredible, the Karaage was crispy and juicy, and the Spicy Miso was delicious. The Tonkotsu ramen wasn’t the best that I had, but it was still very good. The deserts were also wonderful! The presentation was very cute, and they’re both light and refreshing after all the food. Overall this place was a great find in Chicago!
The individual booth seating gives it that semi-private, cozy feel that makes it great for catching up with a friend without feeling like you’re shouting over the room. The decor feels modern Japanese with a playful edge — lanterns, wood accents, and a slightly cinematic vibe that makes it more than just a quick ramen stop.
From a vegetarian perspective, the options are solid but not overwhelming. I appreciate when a place doesn’t treat vegetarian ramen like an afterthought. The broth had depth, and the toppings felt intentional rather than just removed substitutes. The balance between richness and comfort was well executed.
The drinks and sides complemented the meal nicely, and portions were satisfying without feeling excessive.
Service was efficient and friendly, and the pacing worked well — we didn’t feel rushed, but we also didn’t feel like we were waiting around.
Is this the most traditional ramen experience in Chicago? Probably not. But it’s fun, visually appealing, and consistent — which makes it easy to recommend, especially for groups or first-time ramen diners.
Overall, Kyuramen delivers a solid dining experience that blends comfort food with a unique atmosphere.
They have a great special with appetizer, drink, noodles, and dessert. Seemed a great value. Also have some of the most cocktail and sake options around.
I got the signature Tokyo style Garlic Tonkatsu. The flavors were deep and very well developed. The pork was tender, but more thinly sliced than my preference. More of a style thing. Definitely recommend trying them out!
I’d come back to try the Pork Tonkatsu Omurice. They also take reservations for groups over six and have cool beehive-style seating along one wall.
To drink, I started with a Thai Iced Tea. Creamy and smooth – a delightful start to my meal. For my meal, I ordered the Vegetable Miso Ramen. The choices with animal meat looked delicious even though I am a vegetarian. I considered choosing meat again upon gazing my eyes upon the expertly crafted ramen dishes. The miso was flavorful and warmed me up from the Chicago cold. Filled with tofu and a variety of veggies, the noodley soup provided me the comfort I needed and the chow I needed to fill my belly.
Even better than the Thai Iced Tea was the Awesome Lemonade. I don’t know what magical potion they use to make this lemonade, but it was AWESOME! I ordered my lemonade to-go and was pleasantly surprised by the sweet nectar of the gods that was this lemonade. The ramen was amazing and the lemonade pushed me over the line to be a repeat customer. I will be back so save me some of that awesome lemonade.
Best part is there is a chicken, beef, and vegan Ramen option so all your friends can take part in Ramen dinner.
The yakitori skewers were also on point.
Sweet chilli wings were a sleeper hit, don’t skip.
Passion fruit tea was delicious, excellent ratio of fruit, aloe jelly, and passion fruit flavor.
Would happily return the next time Ramen cravings hit.
We visited on Thursday at 3pm and there were minimal amount of people. Food came within 5 minutes and we were seated in a nice place 🙂
