Stopped in on Oct 18, 2025 for enchiladas and fish tacos. My husband enjoyed his beer of choice and I enjoyed a passion fruit margarita. We were celebrating a life event and were happy for the upbeat atmosphere and the great food. The other patrons were also having a good time. There are several Mexican restaurants in our area now. This is more upscale than the others.

I saw that they had $5.99 Lime Margaritas on the rocks on Saturdays. I sat in the bar. The margaritas were pretty good. I usually get them frozen so this was a nice change. I had the Tacos De Carnitas. They were really good. The chips and salsa were good. I really like the salsa when it has cilantro in it. This did not disappoint as it was really good.
When I got the bill I gave my card. When I went to review the bill they had charged full price for the margaritas. I pointed it out but they had to run my card again to refund the overcharge as they charged my card before I even signed the bill. They had to give me a refund on the overcharge as another transaction. There is also a 3% credit surcharge which I am starting to see at many restaurants these days. If I had not checked the bill I would have paid full price for the drinks.

If you haven’t eaten here you are missing out! My husband and I frequent here more than any other Mexican restaurant around. This time we had multiple margherita’s, fresh made guacamole and some of the owners homemade tequila(deliscous by the way). For food I ordered the El chavo lunch specialty and he had the Ranchero Molcajete. I even tried the cactus that came with his meal which was really good too. Love the atmosphere and great service. Thanks for a great meal!! Excited to come back soon!

Very poor service we did not get what we ordered. We ordered elote street corn. We got a tin of corn that came straight from a can, no seasoning at all. We were provided no tortillas with our chicken chori meal. Our “Fresh Made” guacamole was just over 3 ounces and had no seasoning at all. We called and asked for a credit or new food. We were told we could only have the items made again but would have to drive back to the restaurant and pick them up as there was no longer a driver. I have never been this disappointed in Tres Portillo.

the one and only mexican place in all of ohio that always brings a smile to my face best food ive ever had hot fresh and awesome music i love it here 100/10 would suggest again i cant wait to come back again ive always loved this place for mexican food will always be my top fave resturant in all of ohio right next to firehouse bar and grill

It was a pretty good Mexican restaurant. I got a chicken taco bowl, but it came on more of a plate. It did seem like a decent amount of food, but could’ve been more if it was actually in a bowl. It was definitely tasty. I can’t remember how much it cost, but seemed in line with other Mexican restaurants. The server was friendly, but never came back to check on our drinks, so we never got any refills. The restaurant was clean and nice looking. Parking was pretty easy as well.

This restaurant has really started to struggle providing service and quality food. We ordered two dinners including Chori Pollo. We also ordered a side of fresh made Guacamole and an order of Street Corn. The Chori Pollo was dry and came with no tortillas. The street corn that was supposed to be served well seasoned on the cob was presented as corn, dumped from a can into a tin with no seasoning. The Guacamole, was served in a tiny plastic container and lacked any flavor. I believe it was about 3.5 ounces. I complained to the manager but was informed no credit could be provided. It was delivered, so he offered to have the Guacamole and corn prepared again, but he no longer had a delivery driver so I would have to come to the restaurant to pick it up. I just decided to not frequent this restaurant again until better attention to detail is made and better customer service is provided.

We’ve never been here before so we weren’t sure what to expect. I was extremely satisfied with the food, service, atmosphere! Everything we had was delicious! The chips and salsa were probably the best I’ve ever had. And the service was remarkable. If we’re ever in Akron again we’ll be sure to stop here again! 10/10

Friendly and very attentive staff. The food was excellent. The black beans were great, highly recommend. Tacos were authentic. Would like yo return for their margarita night or their flight of margaritas night. Beautiful painted portraits on the walls. Atmosphere was cozy with a Mexican flair. Loved the wooden tables.

So good!! Table side guac that was amazing!! The food tastes so fresh. The salsa was amazing as well. I got the shrimp chimi, my husband got a type of fajita. We were both very pleased with what we ordered. Oh and the flavored margaritas!! We always get margaritas on the rocks and they had a fresh strawberry marg on the rocks so we tried and I am hooked!! So good!!! Where has this place been all my life?! Also the atmosphere and inside is incredibly decorated and very comfortable atmosphere. You need to try this place you will not be disappointed!!!
