Four of us ate dinner on the outside patio on a beautiful weekday night. It was very pleasant to sit there. By contrast the inside dining room was cold (the AC was on too high), dark and so loud you could barely hear yourself talk. And this was on a weekday–I can’t even imagine what it’s like on a weekend.
This is a very upscale and very expensive restaurant with an extensive menu. Overall the food was excellent (though the swordfish kebob was overdone) and service was very good even though the restaurant was packed. We appreciated how accommodating of food allergies and preferences our server David was. A true professional. No problem at all tailoring dishes to meet our needs.
There is a large parking lot with valet service. We had a very nice dining experience but would return only if outside seating was available.

Delicious Greek restaurant, we ordered mostly from the appetizers and they were all very very good. The octopus was incredible, the lobster gyros were great too, although we expected something different. The green salad and the tuna tartare were fresh. Would highly recommend and repeat when in Ramsey. Only aspect I would try to improve is the sound – it’s quite loud, although you can tell they’ve tried to deal with the issue. Still a great place!

Try to visit every time we visit NJ. Dined here quite a few times now and had an early dinner last night. Enjoyed as usual the roasted beets & chips. The octopus was tasty but this time it was quite salty. The fagri & king salmon were very tasty like before.

The service was wonderful! Mariana kindly recommended some dishes since it was my first time here, and everything she suggested was fantastic. I absolutely loved the atmosphere, the people, and the whole experience at the restaurant. I’m already looking forward to returning!

Varka is my favorite restaurant in the Ramsey area! I’ve lived here with Celiac Annie for 4 years and have visited Varka 5-6 times for dinner. The experience is consistently above and beyond. Every aspect of the meal is exceptional, from the cocktails, menu, food, and service. Almost every time I’ve visited, I get the “Fagri for two” all to myself. It’s a large portion, but since you get to pick your fish, I usually choose a smaller one. The octopus and saganaki are excellent appetizers. They are able to customize each dish as necessary for Celiac Annie, taking into account her allergies. This time, she went with the sea bass, and it was exceptional. Reservations are highly recommended, and I’d suggest booking at least 2 weeks in advance for specific dates or times. It’s always packed on popular nights, so noise levels are a bit higher, as expected, but I enjoy the excitement. The price point is higher, but it’s well worth it for the excellence. Service is always great.

We had the pleasure of dining with Mariana who helped us choose from the fresh fish bar. The langoustines and tiger shrimp were excellent! Also the Fagri, fabulous to try for the first time with Grecian wine. The table service was very thoughtful and versed. Mariana had great recommendations. What a treat on our anniversary!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this amazing Greek restaurant and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and the aroma of delicious food. The meal started with a perfectly cooked octopus dish that was bursting with flavor. Next came the lobster and branzino, both of which were cooked to perfection and absolutely delectable. To top it all off, I indulged in the almond and fig cake for dessert, which was simply phenomenal. Honestly, this was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Greek dining experience.

Delicious food from Chef Ubaldo. Great atmosphere I recently dined at a restaurant called “Varka” and had an incredible culinary experience. The food was exceptional, from the mouthwatering appetizers to the delectable desserts. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation was impeccable. The standout dish was the fish, which was a true masterpiece. The attentive service and cozy ambiance added to the overall enjoyment of the meal. I highly recommend Varka for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience filled with great food. The baked clams and the oysters were delicious. Every thing that we ordered was extraordinarily tasteful. Bring the whole family to make memories. Also very cozy for a romantic dinner. There’s plenty of parking. Make sure to make reservations because it gets packed.

We called earlier in the day to inquire about safe pasta options for my daughter who has life threatening food allergies. The woman who we spoke to said that the children’s pasta was safe but when we arrived we were told there was no safe pasta option for her. We specifically chose this restaurant because we were told it would be safe and to say I was disappointed and upset is an understatement. My family has dined here countless times but to be told one thing over the phone and then another in person is completely unacceptable, not to mention the flippant attitude of our server about the issue. I’m ok if a restaurant can’t accommodate allergies or even if they’re just plain lazy and don’t want to deal with allergies (which is what I believe happened here) but do not lie to me and ensure safe options and change once we arrive at the restaurant. And to add insult to injury the service was sub par from start to finish. The food we did order was adequate overall but the lack of food allergen awareness has turned me off completely from this establishment

Anytime I am in the area, I always have at least 1 dinner at Varka. What a great restaurant with great staff. When I got back to my hotel, a member of the hotel staff asked me where I ate, I told her Varka and her immediate reply was “Varka never disappoints.” She is right – Varka never disappoints. I’ve done large dinners there (10 or so folks) and small dinners with just 2 people. It’s always a wonderful experience with great food. The fresh fish, steaks and you simply have to get the roased octopus.
