We have lived close by for years, finally tried it and loved it! Food was delicious and generously portioned. Staff were super friendly and attentive and made sure everything was being enjoyed. I definitely recommend it and would take friends here when they visit. The menu was extensive and I will be coming back to try some of the other dishes. Give it a shot!

There are a few places in the DMV where you get really great jhol momos and this is one of them. We used to visit this place a lot last year and it’s good to see that they have maintained the taste, quality, and quantity of some dishes because I was kinda letdown by their other dishes.
They start you off with some complimentary sel roti with mooli ko achar and trust me — the deep fried sel roti with the tanginess of the radish pickle in mustard sauce just hits the right spot in your palette.
We had ordered a plate of chicken jhol momos and they were just delicious. The dough was not too chewy nor thick and the mincemeat stuffing was so flavourful. It was just the right amount of spice and the jhol (gravy) was great — lightly spiced with cumin (I think) — it had that kick of a great gravy garnished with chopped onions.
Then, we had ordered two thaalis — goat thaali and a chicken thaali. Now, I have had their thaalis before and imo, they used to taste better. This time though, they were just okay. The dishes in the thaali didn’t taste different from each other. The saag was way too oily for a saag dish which is supposed to be healthy and cooked in very little oil. The two types of daal/curry just tasted the same and the chicken and goat curry also were just okay in flavour. Honestly, the thaali was a letdown from before. The kheer served as dessert was okay also — nothing out of the ordinary.
However, they serve a generous amount whether be it their momos or the chicken/goat pieces in the curries so that’s a good thing. All in all, I still like the place and the best dishes for me were the sel rotis and the jhol momos. 🙂

I had an incredible dining experience at Royal Nepal. The Thali set was absolutely delicious — perfectly balanced flavors with generous portions. The highlight was being served with traditional selroti and mula ko achar, which brought back true Nepali homestyle memories.
The food was great and the hospitality made it even better. Raj Daju was humble, warm, and genuinely cared about the guests, ensuring everyone felt at home. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Nepali food and heartfelt service. I’ll definitely be coming

Dateline August 27, 2025. My first visit to Royal Nepal and was I ever glad I went. Encouraged to go with my Napali buddy Sujal (in the photos). Arrived about 3 p.m. Had the restaurant to ourselves and I have to tell you I enjoyed everything. The curry chicken was excellent. My rice pudding desert was creamy and tasty. I will go back. Highly recommended. ☆☆☆☆.7 (4.7) stars. Note: I liked the fact that there was a large parking lot and that the noise level in the restaurant was low. You could actually hold a conversation without screaming.

This was my first time in the Washington DC area and my aunt decided to take me here to try Nepal cuisine for the first time. It was absolutely incredible! The atmosphere was relaxing and calm, which was nice after a tiring day. Our server was very kind and attentive to us, I truly felt cared for as a customer. And of course the food was just amazing! The plating of our dishes was so colorful and it tasted great. I loved it and will definitely come back when I visit again!

Royal Nepal is probably the closest you can get to authentic, homely Nepali food without actually going to Nepal. The food is tasty, flavorful, and yet not at all overpowering. The Thali and MoMo are must-try for everyone. If you dare, ask for a spicy Chilly Chicken! Add to this the hospitality and politeness of owner Raju, you are sure to have a great time here!

Absolutely loved my experience at Royal Nepal Restaurant! The food is truly authentic and full of rich Nepali flavors. The momos were juicy and delicious, and the dal bhat/thakali-style meal tasted just like home. Portion sizes are generous and prices are very reasonable.
The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are friendly, polite, and attentive, which makes the whole dining experience even better. Quality and taste are consistent every time.
Highly recommended for anyone craving real Nepali food or wanting to try something authentic. Will definitely be coming back! ️

The food is really good and the service is amazing!! The owner/chef is super personable and nice came out and checked in with us. The chowmein and the spinach is my favorite, very flavorful. The chowmein is with some curry flavors and I lowkey loves that. I never had such a good spinach. I would definitely come back just for a big bowl of spinach!!!! I love the chicken and the beans too! Mango lassi is not too sweet but tasty. Would highly recommend!

This is truly the best place to experience authentic Nepali cuisine. I loved everything about this spot—the atmosphere, the food, and especially the hospitality. Our server was friendly and attentive, and we were pleasantly surprised when the chef himself came out to share insights about the dishes. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but the buff sukuti definitely stole my heart!
