Food was hot, drinks ice cold, of course the atmosphere is very nice, actually had fries as one of the sides…. literally steaming hot when they hit the table …… very nice place and the prices where okay……you don’t need a second mortgage to eat.

Went on Christmas Day for dinner at 5pm. Seated with 40 minutes and delicious food and beverage. Attentive server and great atmosphere. Beef Brisket plate was plenty of food for me, husband had the trio and said it was very good also.

We waited to be seated for a while since the hostess was MIA. All of the servers that passed by saw us but just ignored us. My mother in law asked a server walking by if there is a host and she said “she’s bringing extra dishes to the back.” We were seated right away after the hostess came back out.
Our waitress was very on top of our orders and constantly topped off our drinks. She provided boxes to take home our leftovers.
The restaurant ambiance is cozy and welcoming. They had a fire in the fireplace even thought it was 65 degrees outside.
The selection of bread was unique but yummy. We ordered fried pickles which were tasty. I had the BBQ trio and it was all delicious. Definitely could not finish it. We had the banana pudding to share. Too much for one person but perfect for three people. I fully enjoyed my meal!

Noah was an awesome server at Calhoun’s! He was super friendly, attentive, and made sure everything at our table was taken care of. Our drinks stayed full, the food came out great, and he had a really positive attitude the whole time. You can tell he genuinely cares about giving good service. Definitely ask for Noah if you’re eating at Calhoun’s—he’ll take great care of you!

Returning customers from out of state, we knew we wanted to come back after a great experience last year. Food is great, service was excellent- Fran, our server was prompt and so courteous, we felt right at home. Would 100% recommend. Will be dining at Calhoun’s anytime I’m in Knoxville.

We’ve ate here many times and had great food and great service but our last visit was the worst we’ve ever had. The restaurant was not very busy yet seemed adequately staffed. There were at least 5 employees socializing behind the hostess stand when we arrived we were not greeted initially. It took several minutes for the hostess to greet us even though there were no other guests waiting, and our greeting was far from warm. We were sat inbetween two crowded tables. It took quite some for our server to come and take our drink orders, we were not provided any silverware I had to ask for it. Our food came out fine. Our server wasn’t very attentive and only refilled one water one time even though 2 of us ran out of water before our meal ended. After receiving the check we waited several minutes for the server to retrieve our card so we could pay. We finally decided just to pay with cash which meant we could not leave a better tip despite the lackluster service. It was a disappointing experience.

This was our first time at this location and it was very good. We were seated immediately. As an appetizer we had the grilled shrimp. I had the catfish with a loaded baked potato, broccoli, and baked beans. My husband had the ribs, pulled pork, chicken tenders, broccoli, macaroni, and fries. Our food tasted very good ! We truly enjoyed our meal. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. She took great care of us and she knew the menu very real. Thank you so much to our waitress Syann ! The atmosphere is laid back and relaxing vibe. We will definitely be back to enjoy another nice meal at Calhoun’s. I highly recommend stopping by for a nice meal, drinks, or of course both !!

Ale Steak – one of my faves. The Ale Pork Chop is equally amazing. Bread basket to start. Their Ranch dressing is phenomenal – I am a Ranch snob lol. All 4 had different dishes – all were superb. Friendly attentive server. White Sangria was delish with fresh fruit. The original location down on the river is a great spot for warm weather also.

I happen to be a bit more sensitive to odors than average. The booth had a minor Body Odor where I sat. I could lean toward the table and the odor gets below my detection threshold. I lean back to the booth seat, and the odor is there faintly.
If I worked there cleaning, the same odor would also not reach my detection level either. I cannot expect bussers or table wipers to lean in close enough to detect such a low level of body odor. For all I know, it was already cleaned and wiped, but just a very small amount of residue was still in the padded booth seating.
Others I ate with did not comment on any odors. I did not want to rudely spoil an otherwise enjoyable time with them for something small. Yet, if the odor were strong and bothersome enough, I would have requested another table.
