Firstly, This restaurant is more like a 3.5⭐ star. It’s a very simple, clean, throwback looking place that’s been there forever with a very streamlined menu consisting of hot dogs, Polishes and Italian beefs. The service is friendly and efficient and the food is very reasonably priced. There’s a couple stand and eat tables right outside with no dining inside.

I dont think they use beef hot dogs and their cheese sauce is literally just nasty nacho cheese that cost $1.50! Def will not be going back. And the fries arent even good either.

Ordered the original classic Chicago dog and fries and it was so delicious. The dog had all the proper Chicago Dog ingredients and the fries were crispy and delicious. Definitely a go-to place!

I don’t know if they have new owners yet, but my order was wrong, and they were slow. One of my polishes tasted old. I ordered two polishes the same way, and they managed to mess one up. A couple of people came back in because something was missing from their order.

Read a lot of good reviews about this spot and decided to make the trek from Chicago to check it out. Turned out to be a good move. I ended up ordering two hot dogs and one would’ve did me. The fries came in a small brown bag and that reminded me of a spot I used to go to for lunch back in high school. The hot dog was put together pretty good, the fries were nice, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Two hots dogs, small fry, and a Coke hit my pocket for 9 bucks and some change. Looks like is a pretty popular spot too, and one I’ll hit up the next time I’m in the area.

I’ve gone here many times over the years but I wanted my boyfriend from Chicago to give it a try. We got 8 hot dogs 2 large fries and some drinks. When we ordered the cheese dogs I assumed it was the nacho cheese like you get for the fries, but no it’s just a slice of cheese not even melted. Embarrassing. We peeled the cheese off and ate the dog but come on! Why use a slice of cheese when you have cheese sauce and could just pour some on top! Also I got chili cheese fries and was hoping it would be all together but it was on the side so we weren’t able to use the chili really considering we went to a park to eat and didn’t have anything to put the fries and sides together. Place has gone downhill in recent years. Idk if I will be back.

Joe’s HotDog been there since 1953. For good reason. Best hotdogs, fries and onions in Illinois. Plus it’s family owned and I prefer to support ma and pa restaurants. Keep up the great work

So I’ve been to this location twice. The first time I had a hot dog and cheese fries. The hot dog was pretty good, not outstanding but pretty good. Like if I was passing this place on the way somewhere I’d grab a hot dog. But I wouldn’t go out of my way. The cheese fries though were delicious. The fries were a huge serving more than I could eat but the cheese sauce is what made it a hit! The second visit I had an Italian beef, dipped well with American cheese and hot peppers. The beef sandwich was a no for me. The sandwich was dipped a little but I had to pour on on au jus gravy to make it as wet as I wanted it. Also the peppers came on the side. This was all ok but I would rather not have to do any work and just eat the sandwich. But I poured on the extra gravy and peppers. Looked so yummy! However I was disappointed by the Quality of of the beef. It was Sliced thicker than I’m used to, kinda leathery. The flavor of the gravy though was delicious. I just couldn’t get past the meat. With every bite I had to take some of the beef out of my mouth because it had that stringy fat..and I couldn’t eat it. I eventually pulled a of the meat off and ate half the sandwich with just the peppers and cheese. I threw the other half of the sandwich away.
