Honestly, we had to travel from New Orleans, La. Just to taste this authentic Mexican BBQ!
It was definitely worth it. We’ll be back soon for a whole lamb.
Service was excellent and the atmosphere is enjoyable. The flavor and quality of the BBQ exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.

After seeing the Instagram post, I came to check this place out, but the machete tasted like nothing! The menudo didn’t have any menudo and the beef broth didn’t have any vegetables. I didn’t like this place!

No wait. Food is good and home made flavor but coffee got cold waiting for creamer. Friendly staff.

Stopped by to see about their barbacoa de borrego. Must say I was impressed. Got the 3 taco special of the day. And they were delicious, definitely recommend this place of you like lamb barbacoa. Waitress was busy, but still kept checking in to see if I needed anything. They also make their own chips, and the salsa sure had a good kick to it too.

Got there prior to the 12pm rush and there was a line.
Unfortunately they don’t cook the Barbacoa on premises which i really wanted to see.
Second my waitress would just disappear , not to attend other tables or man the door … just disappear , I ended up calling others to help me get more water another drink and limes
The salsa on the table just didn’t have any flavor , unless just plain heat was the intent.
The blue tortilla quesadia was again..bland , my gordita masa was well over cooked but the stuffing was really good
All in all I’m not sure about the wait to me it fell flat

I had the barbacoa and a quesadilla at Tres Chiles, and both were delicious. I highly recommend Tres Chiles in North Houston—authentic Mexican food with excellent service!

Father in law has been wanting authentic barbacoa (de borrego) so we came to try Tres chiles for his birthday. We were seated immediately and service was quick and friendly. The food was tender and flavorful and the portion size was generous. We also ordered aguas frescas horchata, and piña, which were some of the best we’ve ever had. The owner Mr. Javier was seen helping the wait staff to quickly serve the guest and even walked around and checked in on every table to make sure everyone was doing good. He personally shook our hands and introduced himself, genuinely the nicest guy, even held the door open for my father-in-law (who is in a walker). We will be back very soon.

Came here after reading about it in Texas Monthly and it did not disappoint!!! Incredible incredible lamb barbacoa machete and tacos!! The corn tortillas were so tender and had a great corn flavor too. We don’t speak very much Spanish and everyone was very helpful, service was better than we get at $$$$ restaurants. I saw a comment talking about things being gamey but I would say they just taste like really delicious and slow roasted lamb. Can’t rate this place high enough!!
