The food was great to say the least!! I enjoyed every bit of it
I’d go everyday if I could lol
Best place to get Japanese food in Seattle imo, it was just so good and soooo comforting!! The black cod was chefs kiss!!!!
Loved it 5/5 would recommend and can’t wait to come back again
Service was as expected and ambiance was decent. It’s the food really that’s worth the trip lol
We texted ahead to reserve a table for 5 since it is a popular place. They don’t take phone calls or reservations online – very old school. Which I think makes it more desirable.
We ended up getting a special room with a “chabudai” style table! I was super excited because I’ve never experienced it before. What I did find pleasant was that although it was a lower table, there was an opening beneath the table that allowed your legs to hang rather than having to sit Indian style.
Tyson was an amazing server. Was attentive, accommodated our allergies and was thoughtful with us having a young child. He was so pleasant and polite!
We enjoyed the following:
Baked miso glazed eggplant – YUM and melts in your mouth.
Black Miso Cod Collar – this was pleasantly surprising and so delicious. Eat bite was tender and flavorful. Simple yet so appetizing.
Sushi rolls were both fresh and well prepared.
The nigiri was also great and fresh- not fishy.
We additionally ordered takoyaki – which I normally don’t love but this one was very tasty and I enjoyed the texture. Lastly karage chicken which came with a creamy slaw.
Overall it was such a pleasant experience and we look forward to coming back!
The food was a 10/10—authentic, flavorful, and instantly took us back to our time in Japan. We loved Maneki so much that we made another reservation before flying home.
We’re not locals to Seattle, but this spot will definitely be on our list every time we return. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
We also got the classic sashimi and shayu shayu (beef hot pot).
Highly recommend 🙂
We opted for a tatami room (highly recommend booking this in advance!), which made the experience even more memorable. Kicking off your shoes and enjoying a meal in that traditional setting is fantastic.
The FOOD! Oh my goodness, the food. We had an amazing spread! The sashimi platter was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented – a real highlight. The unagi don (eel rice bowl) was rich and flavorful, and the sukiyaki was so comforting and delicious. We also tried the takoyaki (perfectly crispy and savory) and the agedashi tofu, which was delicate and flavorful. Even the chicken wings and korokke were fantastic. Everything tasted like it was made with care and tradition.
Service was friendly and helpful, happy to offer recommendations. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and experience you get. This isn’t some trendy, overpriced spot; it’s the real deal.
Maneki isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience. It’s a piece of Seattle history that’s still serving up incredible food. Can’t recommend it enough! Go, but definitely make a reservation. You won’t regret it.
