The chicken biryani was beautifully cooked — fragrant rice, perfectly spiced, and tender chicken in every bite. The chicken madras had just the right level of heat, rich in flavour without overpowering the palate, and tasted wonderfully fresh.
The breads were equally impressive. The garlic naan was soft, fluffy, and generously topped with garlic, while the lamb keema naan was packed with flavourful minced lamb and cooked perfectly.
For starters, the chicken momos were excellent — juicy, well-seasoned, and served piping hot. The chicken sekwa was another highlight: smoky, tender, and full of authentic Nepalese spices, clearly grilled to perfection.
To finish, the mango lassi was thick, creamy, and refreshing — a perfect balance to the spices.
Portion sizes were generous, service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. If you’re in Edinburgh and looking for authentic Nepalese and Indian flavours, this place is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended!
From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable. The staff at Gurkha Cafe are some of the most hospitable and kind people. They were patient with our questions and made excellent suggestions. The ambience is equally lovely—very cozy and beautifully decorated. A wonderful dining experience from start to finish.
We had tasted chicken sekuwa ,tandoori fish, chicken momo, king prawn all were top notch.
Many Thanks to Karki ji.
It was also my friend’s birthday, and the team surprised her with a lovely gesture. I know this appreciation comes a bit late, but a huge thank you to the entire team for making it such a memorable experience.
These people are providing good quality foods with authentic tastes that take you back to Nepal. If any of you have tasted some delicacies from Nepal, you can find the same taste in the foods provided at Gurkha.
We were lured by warm hospitality. It felt great to see foreigners enjoy the foods from Nepal.
Naans were very crisp and thin. Good portion of chicken. Lamb sadeko was great from flavour of mustard oil used. Momo was juicy and succulent. We definitely can say one of the best momo in whole UK.
The interior takes you back to Nepal.
We will definitely visit again.
