In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. Great breakfast spot!
My family and I had a delicious Sunday breakfast this week at Black Bear Diner!
Their menu is huge and includes all kinds of breakfast, lunches, dinner, soups, salads, pretty much anything you can think of. We got burgers, omelettes, a burrito, and a sandwich (pictured below). They were all so good, and came out pretty fast.
Service was great, our waitress kept coffee topped up and drinks fresh. It didn’t feel too crowded, which I appreciated, since many breakfast places have you back to back with other tables.
The decor is suuuuper cute and there’s bears EVERYWHERE. They also have the cutest little plushies for sale, so bear lovers’ wallets beware.
It was a cute little spot for a breakfast here in Palmdale, and I’ll be back for another Bear Burger

Where do I start? Well first of all l want to share how great and outstanding my visit was yesterday morning. We are a large party of 20 guest with hungry girls after we played a tournament.
Dice we arrived promptly we got sat down and our order was taken and drinks refilled at all times. Friendly service. Delicious food server in a good manner of time. Bacon crispy, grits, chocolate pancakes, burger and country fried chicken were served deliciously. Very good service. Clean and cozy atmosphere. I love this place very much.

had a great breakfast at Black Bear Diner, and overall it was a really enjoyable experience. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the portions were generous, just like you’d expect from a classic diner.
I ordered the cinnamon French toast, and it was the highlight of my meal. It was thick, fluffy, and perfectly cooked, with a warm cinnamon flavor that wasn’t overpowering. Topped with powdered sugar and syrup, it felt like a comforting, indulgent breakfast and definitely hit the spot.
Service was friendly and attentive, though things felt just a little slower than expected, which is why I’m giving it four stars instead of five. Still, the quality of the food and the overall diner vibe made it worth the visit.
I’d absolutely go back to Black Bear Diner, especially if I’m in the mood for a satisfying breakfast and another order of that cinnamon French toast.

Amazing food and the service is awesome!!! Excellent prices not an expensive menu here. Where else can you get a meal basket bundle for $11.00 with bottomless drink refills? The Cheeseburger Basket Bundle was flavorful and juicy not dried out like at fast food restaurants. The fries were Delicious!! And so was their Ranch Dressing. The Hamburger Bun was buttered and toasted which is my favorite way to eat a burger and all of the Veggies and Condiments are fresh and taste Amazing!!! The Oreo milkshake is Awesome!!! I will be bringing my whole family here to eat.

I had previously left a negative review due to an unpleasant evening (see below) , but the team didn’t just stop at apologizing – they took concrete steps to make it right. Rosalina M. General Manager for this location reached out to me, listened to my concerns, and offered a generous compensation. It’s clear that they value their customers’ feedback and are committed to providing an outstanding dining experience. I’m thrilled to see that they’re dedicated to continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Kudos for turning a negative experience into a positive one!
I recently visited Black Bear Diner expecting a hearty meal, but unfortunately, my experience fell short in multiple ways. The corn on the cob I ordered was inedible due to its rotten state, which was extremely disappointing. Additionally, the salmon was overcooked and dry, lacking flavor and moisture.
To make matters worse, the atmosphere of the diner felt eerie and unsettling, which made it difficult to enjoy my meal. The service was also slow, which added to the frustration.
What really caught my attention, though, was when I overheard another customer order the “All You Can Eat Fish Friday” special.From what I could tell, their fish was deep-fried to a dark brown color, which seemed excessive and potentially burnt.(I didn’t get pictures of their meal) Given the issues I experienced with my own meal, it’s concerning that the kitchen might be overcooking their fish dishes and serving food been past its freshness or not stored properly, leading to spoilage.
Given Black Bear Diner’s reputation for serving classic American comfort food, I hope the management takes steps to address these issues and improve food quality, service, and overall ambiance. Until then, I wouldn’t recommend visiting.

We stopped by #BlackBearDiner and had an excellent experience. The restaurant wasn’t busy, allowing us to be seated promptly by the single waiter on duty. We both chose the Chicken Avocado Bacon Club sandwich, accompanied by fries and onion rings and let me tell you; they were absolutely fantastic!

For the people complaining, y’all are weird. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced!! It was pretty dead on a Sunday evening, the guy at the register was really kind, and the waitress I recognized from the Holiday Inn bar! She was very kind! The atmosphere was super cozy and I absolutely loved the theme of the whole place! It’s a home cooked American diner. The food was priced pretty well! The menu was unique, as it was printed on a newspaper! It was fun to read! In the photo provided is chicken tenders, and the smaller paw meal of the chicken fried steak, with a side of sweet potato fries and some really yummy white cheddar Mac and cheese!!! That meal was only about $13!!! There are so many well priced meals!!! I DEFINITELY can’t wait to go here again!!! The ranch was probably one of the best restaurant style ranch I’ve had in a WHILE!!!!

We recently picked up an order for an event at work. We needed 150 boxes at a certain time, everything was ready, they helped us load it and when we realized we needed more they were happy to assist. The food was amazing, the staff was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. Black Bear diner has terrific people working for them and serves excellent food. Cannot wait to use you guys for our next catered event.

How do I give 1/2 a star for terrible customer service?! We went in, the place is cold and unwelcoming. The waitress was very unwelcoming and did not greet us. She grabs papers that are not menus throws them on the table as we round the corner she is waiting by on someone. It was really weird to be treated so rudely. We promptly left the rude establishment. Whoever she was should not be a waitress there. It makes sense no one goes there.
Update: No need to reach out to Management as we will not be going back to your establishment. You need to change the temperature of your establishment and retrain your waiter/waitresses. That was completely a shock in how someone could be so rude. For people looking for comfort food do yourself a favor and head over to Chellys in the same parking lot! They were so welcoming, and we had amazing food. The waitress gave hugs to regulars and was so welcoming and sweet. It really recuperated from the weird vibes at Black Bear Diner. We will only go there in Palmdale for breakfast now.
