I realized I left a review here about six years ago, and while I still agree with every word of it, I decided to delete it and refresh things with a new experience. And once again—this place delivered.
Last time, I’m pretty sure I ordered catfish and wings. This visit, since it was Sunday, I switched it up and went with the smoked, smothered turkey wings, a few ribs, and sides—and I’m really glad I did. It was comfort food in the best way: flavorful, hearty, and satisfying.
I snapped a quick photo while transferring everything from the takeout container to a paper plate, but don’t let that distract you. The food was excellent, and the portions were generous enough that I already know the other half will make a great lunch tomorrow.
What made the experience even better was the hospitality. The team at TJ’s was warm and gracious, and it was a pleasure to see the owner actively engaged—coaching his staff and sharing operational tips while they delivered attentive, friendly service. That kind of leadership shows up in the experience.
I don’t live in Arlington, but I won’t be waiting another six years to return. TJ’s is absolutely worth the drive.

We ordered the Turkey and dressing plate with yams and greens and a brisket baked potato with the works. The yams were a little overcooked and the greens had an unknown taste to them. It did not taste good at all. We had to send them back and substitute for another side. The dressing was very good. It had the right blend of seasoning and very moist. They don’t have cranberry sauce, but the dressing so good, you don’t need any. The turkey wings were huge and tender. The gravy was okay, just needed a little more seasoning. The baked potato was awesome. The brisket had a nice smoke to it. Overall I would rate the food we ordered a 6.5/10. The sweet tea was excellent.10/10 Atmosphere was nice. The original table we wanted to sit at was not clean, so we had to sit close to the door and that cold breeze was . 9/10 The lady at first register had great customer service. 10/10 I will be back to try the catfish and some other menu items.

Best BBQ I’ve had in the area hands down! Service was fast and friendly. Food came out hot. Can’t tell you how great this was! Will definitely be back and telling everyone one to try it!

I have heard only good things about this place. It just took me a while to find it. Now that I know their name and location, they will be inserted into my dining rotation. How could anyone not love something on their extensive menu from fish, wings, BBQ, and and plenty in between? There is something for everyone.
On my first visit, I ordered Texas Twisters which is the same thing as Brisket Nachos, but made with fries. Essentially the same as Asada Fries. I followed up with a Fried Strawberry Cheesecake for dessert. I, of course, had to have my sweet tea. This time I opted for the raspberry tea.
Everything was superb and plentiful with enough leftovers for lunch today. They go down in my book as another gem in the wild. I will be a new frequent flyer.

We heard that the BBQ is the bomb. We got there later that night. They were out of BBQ. THAT SUCKS. Next time we have to get there early. They will sell out. So we had to settle for wings and fish. It was ok. Thr fries was a little salty. I got lemon peppered wings but they were too salty. Fish looked good but was bland. No seasoning. Overall food experience: 7.5/10. Customer service was good. Customer service:9/10 The pregnant young lady that served us was very nice and helpful. We will come back to try out bbq.

PLEASE TAKE THIS AS CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM…. THE FOOD IS WAY TOO SALTY!!!!! It’s delicious, however it’s way too much salt. I will definitely be back but I suggest that you ask them to not put salt on anything.

I had been wanting to visit this spot for months as a local community advocate who is intentional about supporting Black-owned businesses. I finally stopped in and ordered a two-piece catfish, four wings, and a side. The catfish and wings were very good—seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The collard greens were okay, not bad but not my favorite.
The young ladies working the register were wonderful—kind, welcoming, and providing great customer service. Unfortunately, I witnessed something that left me disappointed. The owner, Travis, was rude to one of the staff members over something as small as giving me hot sauce packets instead of having me use the bottles already on the tables (which were being shared by other customers). It felt unnecessary and petty, especially in front of patrons.
As someone who champions Black-owned businesses, I truly wanted to love every part of this experience. I hope leadership takes steps to show the same respect and care to their staff that the staff shows to customers.

Customer service was phenomenal from everyone we encountered. Catfish and wings were also good and cooked well. Would return for sure.

The service was cool and the food was decent. I’ve much better food. The bbq was ok. It was not as tender as I’ve had at other places. The smoke was good but there was no seasoning. The fish was really good, but the wings were ok. Give this place a try and let me know what you think.
