While placing my order at the drive-thru speaker, the employee taking my order — Marco (spelled with a K) — immediately had an irritated tone over the intercom. Instead of allowing a customer a moment to finish ordering, he sounded impatient and abruptly said, “Alright ma’am, pull around.” The tone alone made the interaction feel rushed and unnecessarily tense for what should have been a simple order.
When I pulled up to the payment window, things became even more uncomfortable. I attempted to pay using my phone. The payment reader took a moment to process, so I briefly lifted my phone because I assumed the machine might need a different position for the tap to register.
Rather than calmly assisting or explaining what to do, Marco responded in a sarcastic and frustrated tone and said, “I think you need to hold it there for four seconds, ma’am.”
His tone made it clear that he was irritated, so I asked him, “Are you alright, Marco?” because his demeanor seemed unusually hostile for such a small situation.
His response was shocking for a customer service environment. He replied, “No, I just hate it when people don’t follow the directions.”
When I asked who that comment was directed toward, he responded with, “Whoever doesn’t follow the directions. If the shoe fits, wear it.”
At that point it was very clear that the comment was directed toward me as the customer. I was simply trying to complete my payment during what appeared to be a brief delay with the payment reader.
Customer service employees represent the brand of the company they work for, and interactions like this leave a very negative impression. No customer should feel rushed, belittled, or spoken to with sarcasm simply for trying to place and pay for an order.
The entire interaction felt unnecessarily hostile and unprofessional. If someone is working in a service role that involves interacting with the public, there should be a basic level of patience and courtesy. Unfortunately, that was not demonstrated during this visit.
I hope management is aware of how customers are being spoken to at this location and that this situation is addressed appropriately so that other customers do not have the same experience.
Got my food and it was barely warm to the touch. I seriously wondered if the stuff was cooked. Can’t say that the place as a whole looks very enticing. As I was pulling up to the drive thru I just knew that I was making a mistake coming here. I would give 0 stars if I could.
