Got greeted by a nice young woman. I ordered the root beer float, and he got the Black Cow. They use Cedar Crest Ice Cream, which I think is high quality. The float came in a glass mug and looked amazing — and it tasted excellent. To me, the Black Cow looked a bit watery (overmixed), but he enjoyed it.
It was rainy, and we got the only picnic table that was covered. There were plenty of other picnic tables on the grassy areas across the parking lot.
Don’t know much about the food, but would definitely come back for the root beer float.
John’s Drive-In is a hidden gem that hits all the right notes. I had the taco hot dogs and a mug of their famous root beer, and it was everything I didn’t know I was craving! The taco dogs were packed with flavor messy in the best way and the root beer? Served in an old-fashioned glass mug, ice cold and perfectly sweet. The whole experience made me feel like I’d stepped back in time in the best way. If you’re anywhere near, do yourself a favor and stop by. This place is the real deal.
The customer service was fantastic friendly, fast, and welcoming. The food came out quickly and fresh. There’s outdoor seating, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Between the tasty food, great vibes, and that refreshing root beer, we love this place!
Highly recommend if you’re craving something simple, satisfying, and full of charm!
Like Jimmy’s Grotto, a Waukesha staple, and for good reason. Ownership has changed hands since I first started going here “back in the day” (1950s). It was a A&W early on, and in 1974 went independent.
Get a Frosty.
Best Root Beer Floats Anywhere!!!
Ultimate Chilli cheese fries are my hands down favorite. Love the high-school kids working. Family owned. Heck what’s not to love. Thinking of this place will always remind me of home.
Thanks for sticking around!!
